The Broward County State Attorney’s Office released cell phone footage Wednesday of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School Shooter.

Dork McDipsh*t (not his real name) apparently took the video just prior to his murder of 17 people.

Personally, I believe it is wise not to give these murderers fame. However, it seems important to observe them, in the hopes we as a society can recognize their ilk moving forward, so as to stop future tragedy.

Wearing a lime green shirt and camouflage hat — and holding his phone as if taking a selfie — he begins:

“My name is [Dork], and I’m gonna be the next school shooter of 2018. My goal is at least 20 people. With an AR-15 and a couple trace rounds, and I think I can [sounds like ‘duh-guh’] it done.”

Behind (and above) McDipsh*t is the daytime sky and a tall pine tree. He speaks in a strange staccato tone, a bit of a cross between Bugs and Daffy.

“Location is Stone Douglas. In Parkland, Florida. It’s gonna be a big event. And when you see me on the news, you’ll all know who I am.”

McD lets out a notably goofy laugh.

(climbing to a high register) “You’re all going to die! Pew pew pew pew pew pewww! Ah, yeah. Can’t wait.”

In the next clip, McDipsh*t appears to be sitting outside on a bench, wearing an orange hoodie, khaki pants, and black shoes. His camera is aimed toward the ground, and in its view is a black cast on his right arm. It was red in the previous video. He had incurred a “boxer’s fracture” from falling on a step inside the home of James and Kimberly Snead, with whom he was living at the time. McDipsh*t removed the cast — as he had the one before it — the day of the murders.

“Alright, so here’s the plan: I’m gonna go take Uber in the afternoon before 2:40. From there, I’ll go into the uh…onto school campus, walk up the stairs, unload my bags and get my AR and shoot people down at, uh, main — what is it? — the main courtyard await (?) and people will die.”

Next, the camera is again aimed at the ground, which is now dirt next to a sidewalk. McDipsh*t makes one thing clear: if he were not imprisoned for life, he would certainly not have made a living as a speech writer.

“Today is the day — the day that be all begins. The day that my massacre shall be begin. All the kids in the school will run and fear and hide. From the wrath of my power, they will know who I am. I am nothing, I am no one, my life is nothing and meaningless. Everything that I hold dear, I let go beyond your half.

“Every day, I see the world ending another day. I live a lone life, live in seclusion and solitude. I hate everyone and everything. With the power of my AR, you will all know who I am. I had enough of being told what to do and when to do. I had enough of being, telling me that I’m a idiot and a dumbass.”

Ramping up the irony (though completely in sync with his last name as used in this article), he lays it all out for us “dumb*ss”:

“When real life, you’re all the dumbass. You’re all stupid and brainwashed by the political government programs. You will all see, you will all know who my name is.”

Note: we are all the dumb*ss. And we will all see: we will all know who his name is.

But suddenly, the boy who “[hates] everything and everyone” claims this:

“My love for you, Angie, will never go away.” (It’s unclear who Angie is).

Then it’s back to proving he isn’t “a idiot”:

“I hope to see you in the afterlife, from one day another, you’ll end and we’ll all die.”

The Parkland shooting is a senseless horror. And part of the calamity is this boy’s path, from birth to those moments caught on video, to the massacre of innocents. His sense of persecution, his delusion of grandeur are common traits of paranoid schizophrenia. His anger at the world is a textbook symptom of the absence of love and friendship in his lonely life. His emotional disconnection is a reported effect of some psychiatric medication. Or, to quote Jeff Foxworthy regarding people who grow up to do terrible things, perhaps he’s “just a sh*thead.” Whatever took him to this place of evil, it is incumbent upon us to recognize his disposition and torment, in order to hopefully know it when we see it. And, in doing so, perhaps we can stop the next Parkland from ever happening.
