GOP: The Home of Racism & White Supremacy?

Does that sound good to you? Does that hit you right in the feels? Does that make you happy and proud to be a God-fearing Republican?

Now before everyone starts screaming about the racism from the left-o-sphere, of which there is plenty, let me establish my position on this: I don’t care.

I’m not interested in “cleaning up the left.” As has long been a mission of RedState, I’m into cleaning up the right. And the right has some seriously dirty laundry.

Perhaps they’ve always been here? I don’t know. I suppose you can never fully purge your ranks of the fringe who will use your platform to push their own sadistic ideas. But with the rise of Trump, we’ve found the perfect storm of xenophobia and racism.

How it happened is simple: the left bombarded the right with false accusations of racism for so long that our side of the aisle simply became deaf to it. We started not seeing it at all and denying it existed even when it clearly did. Honestly, a very understandable reaction. I smoked cigarettes for ten years and I assure you, by the 10th year I was not planning on quitting because I just found out about lung cancer. I had become so desensitized to the health risks of cancer that I had started to completely tune it out. I believe the GOP got to this point with accusations of racism.

The result is that when confronted with objectively racist comments made by ardent supporters of the Republican front-runner, the most common reaction to calling it what it is is to claim we’re “using lefty tactics.”

Balderdash. I refuse to let the overuse of racism accusations lead to a total blindness when it is staring me in the face.

Nor will I allow this nonsense that it’s a “small segment” of Trump’s support be a reality that I choose to accept. Were these racists saying anything different than Trump himself, not to mention some of his most vocal high-profile supporters, I would agree that we shouldn’t listen to the loudest fringe.

But the fact is, this fringe is perfectly echoing the man himself.

These aren’t dog whistles, this is the realization and acceptance of a frightening ideology that believes the sustainability of conservatism is dependent upon keeping whites the majority.

Here’s a taste of what my twitter feed looks like on a regular basis.

And believe me, this is the tip of the tip of the iceberg. I didn’t even cover the #WhiteGenocide hashtag (have a lot of fun and look up Trump and #WhiteGenocide) or the incessant birtherism rooted in xenophobia. Don’t kid yourself into believing this is just a vocal minority. This group is emboldened, they are loud, and every day they are taking to the streets and the airwaves and claiming they represent YOU.

Is the Republican party the place you want this scum to call home? Do you want a leader who inspires their devotion because of how similar his own views are to this vile ideology?

If so, Trump is your man.

If you believe that conservatism is about ideas that transcend race & creed and should be pushed as a way of lifting people up as opposed to pretending liberty is a genetic trait exclusive to traditionally Western-European looking folks, you might choose from the bevy of other candidates.
