The House of Representatives just passed S. Con. Res. 3, the budget resolution that is the first step in repealing Obamacare. As we reported in the wee hours Thursday morning, the Senate version of the bill passed with a 51 to 48 margin. In the House, legislation passed 277-198 just minutes ago.

The budget measure instructs the House and Senate to begin work on drafting repeal legislation.
Now is when “budget reconciliation” comes into play; the ability to pass a repeal bill with a simple majority rather than a super majority. It is by that method that the Affordable Care Act was passed in the first place. Fitting.
Committees now get to work drafting repeal legislation, which has a deadline of January 27th.
