'He Said Bigot, She Said Bigot' Bickering Reaches Absurd Pitch Sunday with Chris Christie

Hillary Clinton has pulled the race card on Donald Trump and the Tright* is outraged. Donald Trump called Hillary Clinton a bigot and the left is outraged. Everyone is trying to prove their horse is higher, their outrage is outragier, and their candidate is innocent, but nobody can work in the trenches of nonsense like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, as you can see in this clip from the Free Beacon:

I’ll tell you this, this type of discourse in the campaign is just unwarranted. But it was started by Ms. Clinton. Ms. Clinton has started the idea of calling Donald Trump those types of names.

And the fact is that, once you are the person — and Ms. Clinton is the person who injected this type of commentary into this race — once you inject that type of commentary into this race, you can’t then sit back and start complaining about it or have some of your handmaidens in the media complain about it. The fact is that she’s been the person who started this type of conversation in the campaign. She should be ashamed of herself.

This is just dumb. Christie may get cheers from Trump’s dedicated base of “we only read Breitbart” voters, but the reality is that racially-charged rhetoric and accusations have been a part of both campaigns all along, just like in every campaign and every election in this country. In fact, especially in Donald’s campaign, as Right Scoop’s Soopermexican points out in this walk down Blocked Memory Lane.

Nobody on this website likes Hillary, but damn, if there’s ONE thing you can’t plausibly hit Hillary on, it’s that SHE brought in race into the election. Trump literally began his primary race by targeting Mexicans, and even tweeted out a false racist meme about black crime. There’s SO much to nail Hillary on, but he’s so thick-skinned that he HAS to lie in order to keep his fantasy-world up.

Guys, Trump has made an appeal to black voters over the last month that’s been all over the news, and his supporters have been trumpeting and bragging about it. In fact, they acted as if he was the first person ever to bring up race. Yeah. So come on, Governor.

Besides, the core of that message was that Hillary and the Democrats are taking advantage of black voters and screwing them over. What type of “commentary” was he “injecting” there? Quit being ridiculous. Donald has made race a part of his campaign. Own it.

Here is a fact: in nearly every campaign, the Democrat will say the Republican is a racist. This is as certain as the sun rising in the east. But that being a fact does not change the fact that Trump brought race into this race right from day one of his campaign.

This “Hillary started it” bit is just another example of how Trump’s message is almost always tailored only to the group of people who are already planning to vote for him.

Aside from the election specifics, though, this whole episode is the perfect example of how stupid and useless are discussions of race in our politics. The biggest, most public debate about race relations in America during this campaign so far is the two major party candidates arguing about which one of them is more of a bigot, which one has more ties to racists, who started it, I know you are but what am I, I’m rubber you’re glue, and of course, jinx, you owe me a Coke. It’s embarrassing.

We are surrounded by children, and we put children on TV to discuss not discuss serious issues.

2016 is not serious. It’s a circus act. And not one of those awesome ones with lions and trapezes. No, one of those sad French ones with mimes. That’s this year.

Eat at Arby’s.
