BYE BYE BERNIE? Sanders Laying Off 'Hundreds' of Campaign Workers

Vermont socialist Senator Bernie Sanders lost four of five races on Tuesday and trails Hillary Clinton by a now insurmountable number of delegates and super delegates. He has vowed to continue the fight all the way to the convention, not emphasizing that he will win, but rather to influence the party and platform. But that big talk is washed out by news today that the campaign is laying off their staff across the country.

From Fox:

“We’re 80 percent of the way through the caucuses and primaries and we make adjustments as we go along. This is a process that we’ve done before of right-sizing the campaign as we move through the calendar,” Sanders’ campaign communications director Michael Briggs told Politico.

However, as has been visible in the Republican race, laying off staff is often one of the earliest signs of a campaign winding down as it runs out of money. Even though Sanders has outraised Clinton, the Sanders campaign has also outspent Clinton’s.

Briggs confirmed to Fox News that “hundreds” of field staff from the five states in Tuesday’s primaries were told they are being let go.

The inevitable Hillary and the angry Bernie fans are not a good mix. I for one can’t wait to watch the bad blood mix. There’s really only one thing that could possibly bring these two groups together, and that would be if Republicans had some kind of insane, polarizing figure turning the Republican primary into some kind of circus sidesho … ohhhhhh crap.

If he does go, though, someone on the Democrat side is going to have to address this list of goodies that his voters are already making plans around.
