Today is December 5th. On this date in 1839 General George Custer was born, although he was only a lieutenant at the time. Custer is famous for his last stand, his rakish appearance, and of course, his delicious frozen desert. Also on this date, in 1933, prohibition ended. It took several more days for people to remember that it happened, however. And finally, today is Eat fast food day, to support the franchise owners in the face of the SEIU strike. I’ll be having a few double whoppers and a Doritos Locos Taco. FOR AMERICA. And speaking of doing things for America, below, please find today’s top stories from around the web. As usual, consider this an Open Thread.
