Today is December 4th. On this date in 1875, the notorious head of the Democrat political machine Tammany Hall, Boss Tweed, escaped from prison and fled the United States, where it is believed he changed his name to Boss Corduroy. He was a U.S. Congressman, a New York State Senator, a bank director, a hotelier, a butcher, a baker, and a candlestick maker. He was the most corrupt Democrat since every other democrat. He eventually died in jail of pneumonia, proving once again my long held theory that corduroy causes pneumonia. Also, today is National Chicken Lady Day, a day to honor Dr. Marthenia “Tina” Dupree for her efforts to raise educational standards in her community. I, too, was disappointed to find out this had nothing to do with a giant chicken. And speaking of disappointed, you won’t be if you look below and find today’s link. As usual, consider this an Open Thread.

benefic buh-NEF-ik adjective : producing good or helpful results or effects : beneficial
(via Merriam-Webster)
Example: Martin Bashir leaving television, even temporarily, will be a benefic influence on the greater global consciousness and the universe in general, and is also pretty hilarious.
