Today is November 22nd. On this date in 1783, John Hanson, first president of the Continental Congress, died in his home state of Maryland at age 62. He is sometimes referred to as America’s first president, though this is incorrect. Upon his passing, the burgeoning nation came together for a haunting rendition of MMMBop. Also on this date, in 1718, infamous pirate Blackbeard was killed off the coast of North Carolina, me hearties. Johnny Depp could not be reached for comment.
