Count President Trump among the #ReleaseTheMemo crowd, in direct opposition of his Justice Department.

The president apparently is bucking the concerns of his DOJ appointee, Deputy Attorney General Stephen Boyd, and would like to see the release of Rep. Devin Nunes’ super-secret memo, which supposedly lists FISA abuses by the U.S. government.

 Despite warnings from top officials at the agency, Trump reportedly told Attorney General Jeff Sessions through Chief of Staff John Kelly that he wants to see the memo released, believing that it will shed light on the special counsel investigation.

The warning are that to release the memo to the public could risk national security. They’ve asked for the opportunity to review the material, first, but Nunes isn’t letting anybody see it.

Trump “is inclined to have that released just because it will shed light,” a senior administration official told the Post.

Trump is inclined to have it released because he’s hoping it will get him off the hook with special counsel Robert Mueller and the Russia probe.

“Apparently all the rumors are that it will shed light, it will help the investigators come to a conclusion,” the official added.

Whatever is going on with that memo, it’s like a secret society thing. Nunes and his staffers drafted it. Certain members of Congress claim to have seen it, and to hear them talk, it’s the biggest political scandal in the history of our nation.

Then again, the text messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok and his mistress, FBI attorney Lisa Page were supposed to be shockers, and so far, they really aren’t.

Then this “secret society” was supposed to be earth-shattering.

It turned out to be a lame joke. Literally.

This is about the last ace in the deck for Trump’s loyalists, desperate to find something to discredit those investigating the circumstances around his election.

Maybe it’s as big as Nunes and that tight, little cabal claim, but not even fellow Republicans can see it.

Republicans in Congress who have seen the memo say that the contents are “shocking,” and voted this week to allow House members to view the memo in secure locations. The Senate Intelligence Committee, however, has been reportedly blocked from viewing it.

Why?

“I’m here to tell all of America tonight that I’m shocked to read exactly what has taken place,” House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows(R-N.C.) said in a speech on the House floor.

Ok, fine, and that sounds like just the kind of thing Senator Rand Paul could sink his teeth into, but he’s been denied a look.

Senator Richard Burr, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee requested to see the memo and was rejected.

“I thought it could never happen in a country that loves freedom and democracy like this country. It is time that we become transparent with all of this, and I’m calling on our leadership to make this available so all Americans can judge for themselves,” he said.

And nobody is saying the public can’t see it. The DOJ and FBI want to review it, first, for reasons of national security.

If Nunes, Meadows, and the like were that concerned about the state of the nation, they wouldn’t be acting like their only loyalty was to a king.
