You may desperately want to believe the Veterans Administration isn’t that bad, and that all the stories you hear about our vets dying as they wait for care are just random, isolated incidents… mere hiccups along the way in what is otherwise a well-oiled machine. That may be what you want to believe, but it’s not in line with reality.
Would you believe that the reality is that they’ve doubled down on the incompetence by counting live vets as dead?
If you’ve been playing along at home, then yes, you believe.
From Townhall:
“VA officials are now admitting the agency declared more than 4,000 living veterans, dead, cutting off their benefits. Navy Veteran Mike Rieker from Florida is one of them.
‘The system failed, whatever they’re doing doesn’t work. It was supposed to be corrected and of course it wasn’t,’ Rieker told Fox and Friends during a recent interview. ‘Things move at the speed of darkness at the VA.’”
I’d say that was a fair comparison.
The concern for many is that once those benefits are cut off, miles and miles of government red tape will impede qualified veterans from having their benefits reinstated.
Mr. Rieker enlisted the aid of a congressman to help him regain his benefits.
It’s beyond disheartening to think of those men and women who did their duty for their country being left in such a deplorable state by the very government they served.
Do better, VA.
