is probably the second worst loss for Republicans last year. Illinois is obviously the worst, but, had Dudley won, the Oregon congressional map could have put all of Portland into one district. The fact that Oregon has a 4-1 delegation is kind of ridiculous. It still angers me that, as good a year as 2010 was, the GOP lost more close races than it won, even in open seats. The extent to which we underperformed our polling numbers is truly astounding. By rights, we should have won NV and CO senate, IL gov, CT gov, and OR gov. We also should have won another 10 house seats, roughly.

This is probably the biggest pickup oppurtunity for Republicans so far in the special election cycle. Voters in the Democratic primary will almost certainly have too many candidates to choose from, because state Rep. Brad Witt and Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian are already in the field, with many more likely to get in. The Democratic nominee will be battered from the primary, and Rob Cornilles will likely be the Republican nominee. This is a pickup oppurtunity.
