Dana Loesch Sounds Off on Those Blaming the House Freedom Caucus

While many are blaming the House Freedom Caucus for the failed GOP health care bill, Dana Loesch called the efforts of the Freedom Caucus a major win.

Matt Welch, Editor of the website Reason.com, joined Loesch Monday night on “Dana” to discuss the fight between the factions in the GOP and who is to blame for the healthcare bill failing.

“This is the Tea Party. This is the results of eight years of protests and getting people elected, and we had this huge battle during the general election … of establishment versus grassroots. These are actual conservative, grassroots candidates that came from the Tea Party, and it’s amazing to me that now, everybody’s going after the House Freedom Caucus,” Loesch explained, adding that she believed the healthcare vote cancellation last week was a big victory for the Tea Party movement.

Welch agreed with much of what Loesch said: “Those are the people who stood on principle against a corrupt and venal GOP establishment in Washington, D.C., and now what is happening?” Welch said, adding that Trump “took over the popular sentiment among the Tea Party,” as well as the GOP establishment, that “it’s those ‘establishmentarians’ right now who are trying to kick the House Freedom Caucus and the Tea Party to the curb, precisely because they’re standing on principle instead of the usual gormless GOP establishment stuff.”

Loesch added: “I think that this battle with the House Freedom Caucus and Paul Ryan is the most fascinating political battle of this year.”

The main takeaway is that conservatives supported the grassroots activism for eight years as it battled against the Obama administration, and now they are blaming the Freedom Caucus for the failed healthcare bill crafted by Paul Ryan.

Both Loesch and Welch highlighted that the Freedom Caucuses opposition to Ryan’s horrible health care bill doesn’t mean they are anti-Trump; it means they stood by their principals in a time when we needed them most.
