Eric is one of the candidates running in next week’s primary: he’s the one who did the (accurate) Barbara Mikulski as ‘Political Insidersaurus‘ campaign ad recently. We interviewed him yesterday on the primary and the race:
Eric’s site is here, and his Political Insidersaurus site is here.

“Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive”
Excellent interview Moe. Wargotz is it!
marc1l Wednesday, September 8th at 10:09PM EST (link)This interview is so revealing. It is unassuming, honest and raw. I like this guy. He seems down to earth, very smart, hard-working, and decent. He gets my support.
Let'Get Real
lbjgal (Diary) Thursday, September 9th at 1:57PM EST (link)I have met the doctor a few times. Dr. Wargotz is raw, smart, and honest. However I have serious doubts that Eric can beat Sen. Barbara Mikulski in November. Squeakers as Mikulski is know as gets her man (opponent). Once I witnessed Mikulski kicking out a committee staffer out of a Senate committee hearing.
If I was Wargotz’s team I would play up the economical conservative ideas and list all the taxes Mikulski has enacted that have hurt Maryland. One thing I personally would like to see Eric have his spouse attend some of the community events. Some of the Mikulski staff in Washington, D.C. have been floating around the idea Wargotz’s is “a ladies man.”
Meanwhile, Conservatives in Maryland need to reach out to the future. I have spoken to high school students, college students, and young workers who feel conservatives are out to stop their dreams throughout the state of Maryland. The truth is liberalism kills dreams. Conservatives please reach out to reach out via:
• Continue our volunteer work, give out charter/college scholarships (Not everybody is can attend Patrick Henry, Hillsdale, Grove City, ect..In my case serious medical issues… In some communities children make their minds politically before the age of 12-Charter or Private school scholarships would be good for students who’s home is not safe to home schools ),
• Early community employment hiring/training ( I would not be a conservative today if my third grade teacher did not drill me after school to learn my times tables- So at times hire individuals who are willing to work hard and learn if the worker is not qualified explained why… A lot of unqualified minorities and low class whites look to government for employment that’s why liberals keep on getting elected),
• Have a social gatherings with people not like yourself socially, economically, culturally ( My mother has people still in awe that we are conservatives because we hang out with people not like ourselves).
Hopefully my comments will be helpful towards the conservative cause. We must fight for what we believe in, while reaching out to others that have yet to decide what to believe in.

He will have my vote AFTER the primary,
mich22 Friday, September 10th at 2:47PM EST (link)if he wins it, but I must say I’d put my $ on Jim Rutledge to win the Republican nomination next Tuesday. Rutledge has a superior grass-roots organization and is using a much more bottom-up approach to campaigning than Wargotz is (Wargotz’s campaign is top heavy with ad buys and little volunteer effort.) Also, Wargotz’s conservative credentials are somewhat questionable – he’s a sure vote for cap and trade and I would say unlikely to make illegal immigration enforcement or securing the border a priority. I won’t go into the reasons now, but a google search will reveal many people’s analysis with facts to back it up. Most conservative bloggers in MD and most tea party folks have lined up behind Rutledge. We’ll see if they can deliver, against all of Wargotz’s cash power. Should be interesting. That being said, we all agree Mikulski has got to go. There will be unity after the primary, I am sure of that. However, I am also sure there will be much more excitement and passion should Rutledge get that nomination. That’s my two cents, for what it’s worth.
MD races
naraht Monday, September 13th at 9:03AM EST (link)In order of what I feel is likelihood of Republican Victory.
1) MD-6. The only district currently held by a Republican. I’m sort of surprised that Rep. Bartlett didn’t retire this time, given that there is almost the perfect replacement for him, Alex M. Mooney. State Sen. Mooney represents a fairly central part of Rep Bartlett’s district, and was once his staffer.
2) MD-1 It took a divisive primary, a switch by the sitting representative to support the Democrat, and a Democratic year to put Kratovil in office with less than 50% by 3,000 votes, I think he’ll lose, probably to Andrew Harris.
3) Governor. Bob Ehrlich is a known quantity to Maryland, Brian Murphy is not. Very difficult for Ehrlich to be called an outsider in any way. Not sure who has a better chance of beating O’Malley, probably Ehrlich just based on *Money*.
4) Senate. Mikulski is definitely a known quantity. I can’t see her *not* making it through the primary (the better known of her primary opponents took his wife as his running mate). I think Dr. Wargotz is the only one of the Republicans who has any experience in Public Office, he’s actually from the same county as Kratovil (Queen Anne’s). Win or lose, him being the Senate nominee might help Andrew Harris take MD-1.
As for the other State-wide offices, from what I understand there *are* no Republicans on the ballot for Atty General, haven’t heard much on Comptroller.
As for the other 6 congressional Districts, I expect that a *super* wave election would be needed to flip them (think 1930 or 1974), but we’ll see.
