Sebelius counsels… ‘Reeducation’ for Obamacare.

The young boy's desperately silent scream for rescue will haunt your dreams.

Reeducation.”

Reeducation.

Yeah, sure, using that term will save at-risk Democrats in swing seats and states.

Now, it’s important to note here that HHS Secretary Sebelius was being inarticulate and stupidly insensitive here, not threatening.  She didn’t mean to evoke the Cold War era specter of Communist concentration camps where enemies of the State were systematically tortured into reflexively supporting whatever Dear Leader was in power that year, or Soviet-era ‘mental hospitals’ where dissidence was ‘treated’ as a medical disease.  The Democrats aren’t setting up detention centers for everybody who opposes Obamacare: for one thing, you can’t actually lock up a majority of a country.  But the Democrats are nonetheless tired and angry about how Obamacare continues to be rejected by the voting populace – particularly the voting populace who will be at the polls in November – and sometimes people like Sebelius slip up.  Use of a term like ‘reeducation’ indicates that the user of it has decided that there’s nothing wrong with his or her argument; the flaw lies in whoever is not being persuaded by it.  So there’s no need to fix the argument itself, obviously.

If I don’t seem overly worried about this, it’s because I’ve seen the method by which they plan to magically change the minds of voters everywhere!  Yes, they plan to do it through the power of instructional videos.  Their first example is below:

…Oops. Don’t know how that one got in there. Here’s the actual video, designed with micrometer-level precision to hit every possible demographic except white, Caucasian males*:

…yeah, maybe we should go back with The Stepford Wives one.

As Mary Katharine Ham put it: “Cult of competence, I believe they were once called.” NOT BY ME! I knew that these people were congenital goofballs when they had trouble finding a Cabinet whose members all paid their taxes.

PS: Mind you, Kathleen Sebelius is the reason why we’re going to flip the Kansas governorship this year, which will probably mean that we flip at least one House seat there, to. The Obama administration: wrecking once-promising Democratic party careers since 2008.

PPS: H/T Instapundit.

*No, really! They had one, but then they airbrushed him out of the final version. Compare the final collective:

…with the original screenshot that they had for the video:

There’s a metaphor, there. I can tell.

I like it that she showed the Obama administrations true colors and actually used a word she meant. Reeducation.

Socialist Nazi, Red Russia, Red China – they all have used it as well. In Cuba – there was no time to use it… one day there was Cuba the next Socialist Cuba – no middle – just straight dictatorship.

I am awaiting the November elections. Democrats are still shouting they will win. Makes me wonder at what cost. Will the elections be rigged, voter intimidation allowed, other forms of peverse tramplings of our rights…. Two months away.

They think the women and minorities can be “re-educated,” but there’s no point in trying for the white males.

Far too close to the truth.

The liberal cultural effete(!) snobby savior operates from a self-exalted position, reaching down (with appropriate fanfare) to the great unwashed prols, offering handouts and enrollment forms (properly filled out!) for never-ending Nanny State bennies…..

…whereas the truly compassionate conservative quietly comes alongside the one who is struggling and, hand in hand, offers help to enable the one in need to become self-sufficient instead of remaining an eternally government-dependent ward of the State.

Does this idiot, this Birkenstock Bolshevik, this Marie Antoinette on a chemo-hair day, really believe the insurance rates in Assachussetes just went up 28% because these people, within 1 days commute of Hahavd and MIT were not educated enough?

News flash, cue the Drudge Siren! People hate Obamadeathcare because it sux!!! You will not be able to keep your current plan at the current price. Reeducating me won’t convince me that water is somehow really dry except for all the humididty…

So it was with the Hispanic American Talking Icon who spoke of “greater access to quality healthcare…” yeah, POOR quality healthcare.

Just ask the Brits how well that national healthcare thang is working for them…

Why are they trying so hard to sell this?

erod (Diary) Tuesday, August 31st at 11:36AM EST (link)

I mean they already got almost EVERYTHING they wanted. They can’t be scared of people doing something drastic like repealing this thing right? Why that wouldn’t be possible!

Actually, they got very little they really wanted.

The_Gadfly (Diary) Tuesday, August 31st at 12:16PM EST (link)

I mean, sure if you want to count the number of provisions it looks good for them, but that has always been a smoke screen. When you are tallying up everything you wanted, you look at the quality of the items you got.

On the quality basis they wanted (even The Big 0 himself despite his LSM denials) a fully socialized, one payer system controlled by Big Government (BG) that would entrap voters in a dependency on electing Dems to get their healthcare. Of that they got maybe the controlled by BG part but nothing else. They ran into fierce opposition* so they compromised** and opted for ‘the camel’s nose in the tent’ approach of Obamacare. It was supposed to keep their base satisfied that they were on the right path while beguiling consumers into believing BG (which is far less efficient than any private company) could produce the magic cheap but all encompassing quality insurance package that the private healthcare companies never could.

And then reality mugged them. The base wasn’t satisfied because they didn’t get the socialized medicine they think they were promised over 70 years ago. And the clueless rubes seem to have a great deal more clue than they were credited with. In fact the clueless rubes want the d**n thing repealed. In fact they want it repealed so badly they are tossing out incumbents almost every chance they get.

* fierce opposition being defined as: even with a majority in the House and 60 seats in the Senate they couldn’t hold themselves together enough to pass what they wanted. It may be unfortunate but it is true that with those kinds of numbers, the nutroots have a right to be upset with their miserable performance.

** as in, compromised with themselves. Because if they had made any honest effort to include the easily subverted moderate Republicans, the resulting bill would have sailed through and we wouldn’t have such a clear cut argument for the current election.

That's the scary thing about the camel's nose...

erod (Diary) Tuesday, August 31st at 12:57PM EST (link)

it’s in the tent now and if this mess doesn’t get repealed – the statists are going to get exactly what they want. That’s why these next two elections are so important, let’s try to repeal this thing before it’s too late.

It's been my experience that if something is REALLY good, nobody has to work very hard at all to "sell" it.

Teresa in Fort Worth, TX (Diary) Tuesday, August 31st at 1:10PM EST (link)

The reason they are trying so hard to sell this? Because it’s a POS that NOBODY wants.
The fact that no one in the Administration seems to be aware of this blatantly obvious fact is because:

1) This administration is woefully short of people with ANY business experience whatsoever;

2) This administration just doesn’t care what the American people want; or

3) They are convinced that we are too stupid to realize what a BIG F***’IN DEAL this is and how wonderful they are to have “given” this to us ungrateful rubes.

I’m thinking it’s a combination of all three…..

Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride…..

It's like the Dems are pushing Crystal Pepsi....

I hate to disagree with Moe,

indyjohn Tuesday, August 31st at 1:08PM EST (link)

but Sebelius, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and all of the other ‘Progressives’ who now control our government are closet totalitarians. When the HHS Secretary says that the people need reeducation, she means that the State must use the taxpayers’ money to propagandize the taxpayers in order to convince the taxpayers that they should accept a law that is contrary to the taxpayers’ interests. These arrogant, condescending SOB’s really believe that they know what is best for everyone and that the American people are too stupid to realize that the interests of the State are paramount.
I don’t know about you, but that sounds like FASCISM to me.

And, it's all illegal under the Hatch Act

renny (Diary) Tuesday, August 31st at 1:19PM EST (link)

The gov’t cannot propagandize for itself under the Hatch Act, and look what the DC thugs do all the time:
sent out an email to NEA (National Endowment, not my union) to artists to propagandize little o’s admin while they use MY TAX monies as grants for performance art like smearing one’s self with chocolate;
Ed. Sec. Arne emailed his staff to attend Sharpton’s rally on Saturday, to counter Beck’s 8/28;
$23,000,000 had been spent on “Your stimulus at work” signs before Cong. members wrote to little o and informed him that he could not promote regular gov’t business with billboards.
These people are all ignorant, jerk*ff, Yale-Hahvahd clones with one goal: subject the US population to a transformation to Cuba.
Reeducation indeed.

Her pappy, the right honorable john gilligan was our governor in Ohio in the early ’70′s. He was one of the first eco-wackjobs to gain public office. He and democrat mayors in the rust-belt ramped up the restrictions and the taxes on business that started their exodus out of the state. She and all of the other bolsheviks in this adminstration are merely “Red Dawn”, from the inside out.

There is a persistent message from this elitist administration (starting with the campaign) which admonishes us for not understanding they do not understand but claim to.
The difference is we know they are wrong, they just will not admit they are wrong.
I am concerned this group of people through their allies in the NEA and related teachers unions have started this indoctrination in the government schools.
