Seeing as the one that the Democratic Governors Association came up with recently was simultaneously: foul-mouthed; pathetically lame; and very possibly in violation of American copyright law… I’d thought that I’d take pity on the poor, doomed fellows and let them take a look at what a good campaign ad looks like. From the RGA, a reminder that there’s an election in 14 weeks:
14 Weeks from Republican Governors Association on Vimeo.
And I invite the DGA to try to beat that. Mostly because it’s remarkably funny to watch them flail around trying to look like actual winners.

Once again
zachv (Diary) Tuesday, July 27th at 5:53PM EST (link)Once again the RGA’s ads are brilliant. Can’t exactly say the same for any of the other Republican Party associations’ ads. Or, for that matter, the endorsements, enthusiasm, fundraising … accurate debt reporting. *cough*

Hey,
zachv (Diary) Tuesday, July 27th at 6:24PM EST (link)It’s not my fault that the RGA smacks one after another out of the park, while the others end up endorsing Charlie Christ, or dropping a million or two on Scozzafava, or accidentally forgeting to report $7 million in debt, or [name your complaint here].
I mean, I can give kudos to the NRCC for it’s recruitment, but other than that, it’s pretty darn lackluster.
You are correct that you do not control events.
Moe Lane (Diary) Tuesday, July 27th at 6:37PM EST (link)But you do control your attitude toward events, and how you express that attitude – and the Speaker of the House wants you to do precisely what you are doing now.
Personally, I don’t do that… person… any favors.

No zachv, that's not your fault. Your fault is bringing negativity to an otherwise positive post.
Aaron Gardner (Diary) Tuesday, July 27th at 6:42PM EST (link)Your fault is that you would rather point out the failings of the Republican party rather than it’s success.
Your fault is that you can’t comprehend how your words affect others. Others why might not contribute to the Republican party because they have been dissuaded by people like you.
The culmination of your faults could lead to losses in November, which would be your fault.

I appreciate your opinion Aaron.
zachv (Diary) Tuesday, July 27th at 7:06PM EST (link)… but what success? I praised the RGA ads and the NRCC’s recruitment, sure, but other than that … we’re still 100 days out from seeing an ounce of RNC, NRCC, or NRSC so-called successes.
Nor do I seem to be alone in my opinions. Click over to MoeLane.com’s comments and you’ll find the exact same frustration as I have.
Understand that we can’t shoveling our faults and our shortcomings into a hole and burying them. Ignorance and purposeful sugar coating is a bliss thing, but it does not prevent underlying problems in our organizations. That is underlying problems that I might add, render brilliant ads such as this one ineffective.
Now, I can understand your last statement on losses in November, but if that truly is your sentiment, that opens a lot of blame in FEC fines, wasted resources, bruised and beaten competitors, unfit leadership, and poor decision on unwillingness to criticize poor decisions.
Then write your own diary.

As campaigns go this is a brilliant ad, much like the others that were done earlier. Everyone should take note and run with them.

RGA
ktsub (Diary) Tuesday, July 27th at 5:55PM EST (link)The RGA has been the committee to support this year, if you have to pick on national group. They have had to expand quickly from their traditional role to that of GOTV, voter ID and state level victory programs, the DGA on the other hand has trashed their own ideology and hitched their wagons to the tune of millions of dollars to keep their candidates afloat.
Help the RGA out, they have a target rich environment, that is only limited by their cash-on-hand.

An excellent piece. It needs to be done in 30 and 60 second versions for broadcast…. the images are powerful, but a good edit would work for radio as well. Nice to see Reagan.
Ads like these for conservative candidates can make the difference. Taking the overwhelming negative of the current mess and make a positive message. Effective ads like these have moved voters in those final 24-48 hours. Let’s make sure that those sorts of ads are from us, not them.

DGA ad link says paid for by RGA
paint_it_red (Diary) Tuesday, July 27th at 9:15PM EST (link)Why does the link to the ad by the DGA end with “Paid for by the Republican Governors Association?”
The RGA ad though was great. I’m good with the drama because it will fire up our people and maybe appeal to some independents. And it was positive in tone even while attacking.
I’d like to see a few ads by the RGA that talk about how the only states balancing budgets are run by Republican Governors. Jindal, Daniels, and McDonnell got the job done. Christie has made strides in NJ nobody believed possible.
