We knew the moment Donald Trump picked Nikki Haley to represent America on the international stage that it was an awesome pick. But is Haley, one of the best conservatives our side’s got, really going to mesh well with Trump’s world view?
Maybe not, it seems. According to The Hill, the State Department is asking for Nikki Haley to get her public comments as Ambassador to the United Nations cleared by Donald Trump first.
The email maintained that her comments should be “re-cleared with Washington if they are substantively different from the building blocks, or if they are on a high-profile issue such as Syria, Iran, Israel-Palestine, or [North Korea].”
Haley has previously maintained that she checks with the administration about her statements. She told CNN earlier this month that President Trump “has given me a lot of leeway to just say what I think and interpret what he thinks.”
If there is one person who is making Trump look good right now, it’s Haley. She is doing exactly what needs to be done on the global stage – re-asserting that America isn’t going to stand idly by anymore – and not putting up with the international community’s tomfoolery.
I also highly doubt that Haley is going rogue at all. But, it could very well be that Rex Tillerson, who has fumbled several talking points himself, is not happy he’s being overshadowed on the global stage. He and Haley are set to appear together today at a meeting of the U.N. Security Council.
