Brace Yourselves: Michael Moore Doesn't Understand the Constitution

I know, dear friends. I was shocked, too. I had to brace myself for the worst when I saw a headline at The Blaze that read “Michael Moore wants Trump to step down and Clinton named president.

Surely, the calm and rational filmmaker doesn’t think that there is a valid, Constitutional reason to do any of what he’s saying should be done. Surely.

Well, I hate to disappoint you guys, but Michael Moore is, in fact, ignorant.

Here is a lengthy Facebook post from Moore on just what he wants to see happen:

I, for one, cannot wait for Moore’s documentary explaining this.

First of all, as the story from The Blaze notes, the New York Times did not say that Trump’s team was colluding with Russia. That’s just a leap he made – he’s surprisingly athletic – with no factual basis whatsoever.

But, the process he describes is so Constitutionally ignorant that I don’t even know how a person could say any of it and mean it.

Somehow, our judicial system has to find a way to make restitution to this country. Pence can’t be president as he, too, was elected under this same fraud. The court has to rule either that the President is the winner of the popular vote OR the election must be held over. The Republicans– the beneficiaries of this treason –cannot be allowed to hold on to the power by default. If it turns out there’s a traitor in the White House, the judicial branch must find a fair, peaceful way to un-do and then re-do the election of 2016.

There is literally nothing in the Constitution that says this is possible. What Moore is asking is for us to just make things up. I can think of at least five ways he’s wrong in this screed.

  • The court battles he calls for would be tied up for probably years longer than Trump would actually be in office.
  • The Judiciary doesn’t make ultimatums like he is calling for.
  • He can’t just void an entire administration because he doesn’t like the result.
  • He does not have any proof of what he claims Trump did.
  • He is Michael Moore.

People losing their minds over Trump are the most tragically beautiful things you can ever witness. They don’t know how to handle the fact that they are directly responsible for what is currently happening. The best part is that we can sit here and say “You did this” and they won’t listen to us.

Moore is a very sad man who doesn’t know nearly as much as he believes he does. And this screed is just one more reason to believe that.
