Missouri Is The Concord Bridge For Obamacare Repeal

On August 3, 2010, the Missouri electorate will vote on Proposition C, the Missouri Health Care Freedom Act (MHCFA).  Have no doubt – this is the first shot fired against the power grab known as Obamacare.  If successful, if we beat back this overreach of federal power in Missouri, other states will move forward.  Should we fail – especially with low voter turnout, the media, the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats will gain a second wind.  I can think of few things more disastrous leading into November than giving the Democrats hope.

Josie Wales, a lawyer from Missouri writing at Big Government, calls August 3 “the most important day in America“.” Missouri will be the first state to allow the public at large to voice its opinion on Obamacare.  Most of us know that the majority of Americans view Obamacare with disgust; disgust at the process by which it was passed and disgust by the burden it will impose.  We’ve been forced to speak through rallies and a diminished Republican party, until now.  Now there is an opportunity for the average voter to act upon that disgust.

Why should you care?  What does a Missouri proposition have to do with the other 49 states?  MHCFA represents the first battle in the war against the bureaucratic, tax-happy nightmare that has saddled Americans over the last century.  Just as the Supreme Court gun cases are changing the debate on the Second Amendment back to gun ownershig being a fundamental right, states signalling their refusal to go along with individual and employer mandates will alter the debate on the proper role of the federal government.  At issue is a single idea – can the government compel you to purchase a product they design simply because you’re a US citizen?

MHCFA is a call to arms for all freedom loving Americans, but even in our state there is complacency.  Polling looks good, so the Republican establishment is taking it easy.  They’re crossing their fingers and hoping no last minute barrage of ads derails the proposition, as has been done every time the Left wants something.  From direct mail to phone banks to television ads by outside groups, the Left will carpetbomb Missouri in the week before the vote, and conservatives will have no time to react.

So we need your help.   Not with money.  Not with volunteers.  Though both would be nice, what we really need is the collective voice of conservative America.

Support MHCFA.

Supporting MHCFA is as simple as linking to the effort on the internets, posting an article about the effort on your blog, leaving a comment about the effort on a website, and mentioning the effort in any other social medium: Twitter, Facebook, church, work, bars, sporting events, airplanes, bank lines, family dinners….

We need national recognition.  Recognition of the effort in Missouri will lend to its success.  If we succeed by large margins in Missouri, you can be sure that success will follow in other states across this great nation.

Don’t get me wrong.  We’re not sitting idle.  Tea Party groups, conservative candidates, and conservative bloggers are out writing and knocking on doors and calling our connections to generate press.  But we need the folks at Red State to help.
Please support the MHCFA in whatever method you choose, and visit the website:

http://www.mohealthfreedom.org/

If you’re writing about healthcare, link to something on Missouri.  If you’re reading about Healthcare in Missouri, link to that story, and leave a comment.  If you’re writing about The Healthcare Freedom Act, please send a note to Benjamin at rivercitytea@gmail.com and he will link back. If you’re writing about a healthcare lawsuit in your own state, send him a note and we’ll tie it back into the larger fight.

We need noise on the issue more than anything else.  Anyone care to raise their voice?

How many more freedoms are you willing to forfeit ?

hoootie Monday, June 28th at 3:13PM EST (link)

Lets recap what the liberals have done to this once great country. NOhealthcare is at the top of the list. If you think healthcare is expensive just wait until it’s free. We almost lost our right to bear arms. OBUMMER now has the power to shut down the internet for up to 4 months. They want to cap and trade which will make electricity extremely expensive and gas will go to $7.00 a gallon. VAT or value added tax will destroy the free market becuase nobody will be able to afford the gas to get to the stores and when they get there you won’t be able to afford what you went after in the first place. We can collectively sit on our butts like we always have and just let them have their way with whats left of America OR we can get up and fight them all the way back to Washington. Here’s is a quote by one of our founders. Read it over and over and over until you fully understand it…”When a government betrays the people by amassing too much power and becoming tyrannical, the people have no choice but to exercise the original rights of self defense – to fight the government.” – Alexander Hamilton

Push That Message In Missouri and Everywhere

Ausonius (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 3:43PM EST (link)

Key phrase in 24th State’s essay:

“At issue is a single idea – can the government compel you to purchase a product they design simply because you’re a US citizen?”

And it should be followed up with logical scenarios: you could be forced to purchase a union membership to work.

You could be forced to pay for abortions, even though it is a violation of your personal religion.

You could be forced to pay for bank bailouts and pork-barrel bridges to nowhere.

You could be forced to pay for public schools that are disasters.

Hmmm, wait a minute! :)

Anyway, the lies need to be exposed and the main Constitutional problems explained in ads which highlight “loss of freedom” as their point!

Didn't VA already do this?

Raven (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 4:18PM EST (link)

Ah, but they did it through the state legislature, not with a ballot question.
I see the difference.

Still, VA was a good beginning

We’re. in a civil war.
20 states are suing the federal government for violating the Constitution.
The feds are threatening the soverieign state of Arizsona with a suit for the state’s enforcing what is really federal law.
Federal agencies and the president have threatened the economies and cultures of all the Gulf states with a business moratorium over an oil platform accident, in which the gov’t was complicit by its lax implementation of its OWN rules and regulations. When a federal judge ruled the DC edict was unConstitutional, immediately the fed. gov’t threatened either to appeal the ruling and/or issue a new moratorirum–in order to keep economics in five states in limbo. All, in an ec. with 10% unemployment nationally already.
Thank heavens for the Sup. Crt. gun ruling. If you don’t have one, get one.

WE NEED TO LOOK BEYOND

macjedi Monday, June 28th at 4:33PM EST (link)

I’m not a big organization type, but I see that conservatives need to organize to inspire the sleeping American public as to our current place in history and more importantly, what needs to be done to recover liberty, states rights, national sovereignty and above all a limited government.

We are in the midst of 100 years of progressive infection. We need to turn back a long long list of progressive victories (quagmires) that are dragging down our nation and the people.

Turning back Obamacare is only a long needed beginning. We need confident leadership that fervently believes in the American principles (not communist manifestos) with BIG goals (reduce government!) and a reliance on God that blesses those who do His will.

Dear God, please bless us with real leaders, and multiply confusion in those who hate you.

I'm from Missouri and I'm in

I got a text from the MO GOP about this and be sure I’ll let people know about this. This is a matter of state pride for me along with voting for this proposition is the right thing to do. I was proud when this state went for McCain in 2008 and I’ll be prouder still if it votes for Prop C.

As long as I breathe I'll be fighting against Obamacare.

earlgrey (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 5:26PM EST (link)

I don’t care who the Senate Majority Leader is, who is on the Supreme Court, or who is sitting on the throne in the Oval Office. I will fight this always.

No doubt, the Obama Administration will attack

Mr. Wales for being …an Outlaw.

Josie Wales?

tonyevans Monday, June 28th at 5:33PM EST (link)

Not to throw us off topic, but that’s awesome. The outlaw himself was from MO too.

I was glad to hear (a month or so ago) that MO finally got involved. Being a MO resident I kept hearing about other states doing something – anything – to fight this ugly beast but we *seemed* to be doing nothing. Not only did we finally get involved, but we’re bringing the whipping switch with us. I hope and pray that the residents of this state turn out and, well, to continue my analogy, take this bill and DC out to the shed.

Way to pound the ground for prop C, 24thstate.

Awesome, Josie Wales!

“Josie Wales, a lawyer from Missouri”, one of the cooler things I have ever read.

Why does Obama love Elena Kagan?

indyjohn Monday, June 28th at 5:46PM EST (link)

Because, if on the Supreme Court and given the opportunity, she would rule in favor of Obamacare, ala Harry Blackmun, declaring it a fundamental human right as derived from the penumbra and emanations of previous Supreme Court rulings. She has already, no doubt, come to the conclusion that restriction of access resulting from high cost is a violaton of equal rights. I’m not certain what previous Supreme Court rulings could be used to justify her preconceived notion, but it doesn’t really matter. What matters is the end result, which is, of course, nationalized healthcare. The goal sought by Blackmun et al. was universal abortion on demand, and he really didn’t care now spurious his argument was, just so long as his opinion became law.

But what is liberty without wisdom, and without virtue? It is the greatest of all possible evils; for it is folly, vice, and madness, without tuition or restraint.
Edmund Burke

Go MO!

taxpayer1234 (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 5:52PM EST (link)

This ballot passing will make my (25th) wedding anniversary all the sweeter. Wish I could vote in MO!

It will pass easily.

NeoKong (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 6:20PM EST (link)

Obamacare is more unpopular than gay marriage. It will be rejected anywhere the voters have a say.
It was already rejected in Massachusetts.
When it is specifically rejected in August Democrats are going to begin to realize just how mad the voters are.
No media spin is going to save them.
Millions of people protested in the streets and Democrats spit in their eye and defied them most rudely.
Pretty soon it will be us that gets to vote on it.
There will be a lot of Democrats waking up with a hangover on November 3rd realizing their career is over.
So sad.

St. Louis and K.C. don’t screw over the rest of the state like they did the first time we tried to get Concealed Carry all those years ago…or how they got Gambling passed the third time they tried.

I have confidence Prop C will pass, but it’s not gonna be a cakewalk…

This will be different.

NeoKong (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 7:51PM EST (link)

When you can get millions of people all over the country to go to rally after rally weekend after weekend it’s because they are highly motivated.
C and C and gambling referendums are group specific.
The voter base has a limit.
This health care law affects everybody.

The November ballot will contain a measure whether us Okies want ZEROCARE, well I’ll tell you, 2008 election tells me, uh no, not ONE COUNTY WAS BLUE IN OKLAHOMA! I am so proud of our legislators here. Getting rid of our panywaist govonor, thanks to term limits, we will stay red, and not run red, from death…..from zerocare……

Will we let them???

bobandruth2416 Wednesday, June 30th at 9:16PM EST (link)

Ausonius : Reply to your 3:43 posting…

the answer is ‘YES’…..if we let them. That’s how the anointed one gained his dictatorial position…we let him, and we are letting him. Our judicial system is of such a mind-set that we don’t even successfully challenge his right to be president….so the answer to those questions…Yes…if we let him.
