The near 8 point lead Hillary Clinton enjoyed in the first ten days of August has disappeared. In the latest  Real Clear Politics average, Hillary’s average lead has slipped to 0.9 points. Trump leads in Ohio and is starting to peel away support from Hillary in other states. In addition, Gary Johnson, while expected to draw votes from Trump, is actually taking more away from Clinton at this point.

So it’s not surprising to see President Obama get in a snit to see the race is so close. He naturally picks out the usual suspects for these developments and as always it is Rush Limbaugh and Fox News:

President Obama says “misinformation” fed by Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and right-wing web sites partly explains why the presidential race is such a nail-biter.

At a fundraiser in New York City, he cited political polarization and specifically called out the influence of conservative media. “This should not be a close election, but it will be. And the reason it will be is not because of Hillary’s flaws, but rather because, structurally, we’ve become a very polarized society,” Obama said Sunday.

He continued, “If all you’re doing is watching Fox News and listening to Rush Limbaugh and reading some of the blogs that are churning out a lot of misinformation on a regular basis, then it’s very hard for you to think that you’re going to vote for somebody who you’ve been told is taking the country in the wrong direction.”

“And so, structurally, we already have these divisions and it’s going to be hard to overcome those,” Obama said.

It’s stunning. If you believe people from various left wing organizations such as Media Matters, Rush Limbaugh has lost a lot of clout and likely had to take a big pay cut with his new contract precisely because his influence is waning. Fox News, despite being the top rated cable news network has lost some of its audience to other outlets. Yet here is Obama saying they’re responsible shape changing the election as it goes on. That’s in addition to “some of the blogs that are churning out a lot of misinformation on a regular basis.”

All of this is just typical Democratic gobbledygook Obama is spouting so patrons will cut big checks in order to assist Hillary in her election efforts. What bothers Obama more than anything else, is a close election is a reflection upon him .

If Trump wins, it becomes a total repudiation of Obama’s eight years in office. So he’s looking at these polls and then glancing over at his approval ratings and thinking, “What the hell is going on here?” Even if the race is a nail biter, it still doesn’t look good for him because Hillary should win in a walk against a candidate more unpopular than she is.

Obama has already said to the black voters he’d take it as a personal insult to his legacy if they don’t back Clinton for President. So much for pretending people should vote based on their own preferences. You’d better vote the way he wants, got it?

Obama’s faux consternation about Fox News and Rush Limbaugh will no doubt fool enough people to break out their credit cards and checkbooks. The reality is, he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about Hillary Clinton. He sees a win by her as good for him. Nothing else.
