Decrepit, Doddering Fox Host Shouts at the Clouds About Attorney General Jeff Sessions

Attorney General Jeff Sessions listens to a question on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, June 13, 2017, as he testifies before the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing about his role in the firing of James Comey, his Russian contacts during the campaign and his decision to recuse from an investigation into possible ties between Moscow and associates of President Donald Trump. Of all the people to make this claim, this is absolutely shameful.

And embarrassing.

President Trump has renewed his frantic attacks on his first Senate supporter and current Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Besides the rabid tweeting, reports are that he calls him “Mr. Magoo” behind the scenes. And (at least) one Fox host thinks it’s just great.

For those not in the know and as unaccustomed to old, Saturday morning cartoons, Mr. Magoo is a nearsighted old man who would bumble his way through mishaps and calamities due to his poor eyesight, completely unaware of what was going on around him. Awesome fun, as a kid, ridiculous to hear from a sitting U.S. president about a member of his own, hand-picked Cabinet.

Enter loyalist Lou Dobbs, Fox Business host and a man whose grip on reality slipped away long ago. He actually had the nerve to insult AG Sessions on his mental capacity and dignity Saturday.

Is lack of self-awareness listed in the symptoms of dementia? Asking for a friend.

Let’s face it: Dobbs has passed his relevance by quite a few years. They keep him around on the Fox farm now, simply because he’s so devoted to the state and the Trump dynasty. He’s like an old dog – hobbled, blind, and slow, but he’ll lay at your feet and lick the crumbs off your fingers. That’s all they require over at Fox these days, as long as those (short) fingers belong to Trump.

The Fox Business host shared an article tweeted by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), one of the House Republicans calling for Sessions to appoint a second special counsel to investigate the end of the Hillary Clinton email probe and alleged surveillance abuses by the FBI involving a Trump campaign adviser.

The article shared by Gaetz centered around comments he made during a Fox News appearance where he claimed that Sessions didn’t answer questions from House members pressing him about appointing a second special counsel and instead deferred questions to his deputy, Rod Rosenstein.

“I did sit down with the attorney general along with [House] Judiciary Chair Bob Goodlatte [R-Va.] and many others and I was disappointed that the attorney general didn’t seem to be very engaged on any of these issues regarding existential threats to the Trump administration. He was deferring to a team that answered to Rod Rosenstein, for goodness sakes,” Gaetz said on Fox News.

Gaetz, for those keeping score, is another of Trump’s lackeys in Congress. He’s of the Devin Nunes/Dana Rohrabacher variety, and is there only to run interference for Trump. Take anything he says with a grain of salt and maybe a stiff shot of Russian vodka.

Hey, let’s just back up a sec: Trump was quite pleased with Sessions, who jumped the Trump train early and never wavered in his support, back during the campaign.

Sessions fell out of favor when he did what he thought was the right thing, and stepped aside, so as not to present any conflict of interest in the Russia probe.

Trump demanded loyalty. Trump demanded Sessions forego ethics and guard him from scrutiny. Sessions’ crime is in thinking he was appointed to actually be the Attorney General of the entire United States, and not simply the guard dog of Trump and his family.

Dobbs’ piling on Sessions today is a disgrace.
