Immorality has sunken to a new low.

That’s the word of Senate candidate Roy Moore. I can’t say I disagree with that statement, taken as it is. Every new day we’re greeted with some new, gut-twisting level of depravity.

I’m stunned by the direction of the world (straight down) and I’m stunned by those things that even [American] Christians will rush to defend – and the vitriol employed to mount that defense!

Speaking with One America News Network, Moore gave his explanation of immorality.

“I think immorality has sunken to a new low. And I think in this race I have been very much impressed with the lack of morality in political advertisements. They say anything, they do anything just to win,” Moore said in an interview with One America News Network.

“I think they hide behind these false ads. It’s just to attack the character of their opponent,” he added.

Oh. That’s what you’re concerned with?

Moore has avoided most mainstream media outlets, preferring to stick in the shallow waters of OAN and Fox News, instead.

The former Alabama justice has been accused by multiple women of inappropriate behavior when they were in their teens and he was a 30+ year old man.

The worst of those allegations come from two women who claim Moore initiated sexual contact, one when she was 14 years old, and the other was about 17 years old.

Personally, I have no idea how true any of it is. The way I see it, there could be four likely scenarios.

One – Every word is true and the man is in full, campaign-level denial.

Two – Every word is false. This is a political hit job.

Three – Some of it is true. Some of it is false, built off of those things that are true (like the fact that he had a thing for teen girls, which he hasn’t actually denied).

Or four – It’s true, or at least has some basis in truth, but it was his life before he became a Christian and the old things have passed away.

If it’s the fourth option, his reactions to this scandal have been poor examples of a life redeemed. There’s no grace in his responses.

If he wants to talk about immorality, maybe he needs to calm down, take a deep breath, and talk about the immorality of adults taking advantage of kids, and then stress his innocence without flaming the media and everybody else that might have a question.

Moore lost a lot of endorsements, based on the volume of accusations, some that are seen as credible, especially when compared to his rather lukewarm defense.

He has recently got President Trump’s full support, however, as the election day draws near.

While Republicans have in recent weeks called on Moore to drop out of the race, President Trump on Monday backed the candidate, saying his vote is needed to advance the Republican agenda in the Senate.

Trump also ripped Jones, calling him a “liberal puppet” who would hurt the Republican agenda.

Moore responded hours later, tweeting that he can’t wait to help Trump “#DrainTheSwamp.”

And it’s always about winning and party politics, these days.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has previously called for Moore to step aside, now says it’s up to Alabama voters to make their choice.

That’s true. Ultimately, Alabama’s voters will choose who they want to represent them in the Senate.

I would ask that nobody bring up morality, in the process, as morality seems to have left the building a long time ago.
