The panel was meeting on their months-long standoff with the Justice Department on the request by the Republican-controlled committee for documents related to the origins of the FBI’s Russia investigation and the handling of its probe into Democrat Hillary Clinton’s emails. Jerry Nadler, the notoriously partisan and morbidly obese progressive chair of the House Judiciary Committee is using his position to rake in cash for the DNC…and maybe a little for himself as well.
According, to the Free Beacon, Nadler will be headlining a gathering of The Democracy Alliance, a major progressive dark money group, that will be closed to the media and public but where he will discuss what his committee is going to do in the wake of the Mueller investigation winding down.
The largest donors on the left will be given a private briefing on investigations into President Donald Trump by House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.) during a secretive Texas gathering this week, according to documents obtained exclusively by the Washington Free Beacon.
The Democracy Alliance, a group of millionaire and billionaire funders of the liberal movement, is holding its Spring Partner Retreat and Strategy Conference at the Four Seasons hotel in Austin, where security has been patrolling the meeting areas since Wednesday. As always at the group’s secretive meetings, all programming is off the record and closed to members of the media.
Nadler, who has made headlines by leading the charge to investigate Trump in the House, was a late addition to the conference program, which was obtained by the Washington Free Beacon and can be viewed in full below.
Nadler will join the donors via live video to lead a discussion titled, “After the Mueller Report: What’s Next?”
“Given the events of the last few days, we added a special discussion, After the Mueller Report: What’s Next?” says a flyer distributed with programming updates for the donor retreat.
The standard for determining if an action is improper is not only its actual impropriety but giving the appearance of it. The degree to which this is improper is difficult to overstate. Nadler is meeting with a group of major Democrat donors who hate Donald Trump, and who the Democrats need enthusiastically supporting them in 2020, to discuss the most important thing Nadler will ever do. Will Nadler sell the use of his committee’s subpoena power for contributions? Will he put up for grabs actions his committee could take? We don’t know and we never will. But, given the nature of the speaker, we can certainly speculate.
At a minimum we know a douchebag like Nadler gets invited to talk to real people for only one reason: he is temporarily useful to him. I guarantee you, Nadler wasn’t a major speaker at their meeting. Nor the year beforre. I can nearly guarantee you that he won’t be back next year. From that it isn’t hard to see what is going on here.
