Secret Service Agent Kerry O’Grady made the news in January when she posted on Facebook that she would not “take a bullet” for President Trump and would rather face “jail time.”
This upset many, but none more than the spouses of the agents O’Grady works with and oversees at her Denver, Colorado post. If O’Grady would neglect to do her job to protect the president, then it would obviously fall to one of her fellow agents to perform the horrific duty of putting themselves in harms way.
And the agents’ husbands and wives are not okay with that.
A group of a Secret Service spouses filed an online petition addressed to Secret Service director Joseph Clancy requesting O’Grady be fired.
Dear Secret Service Director Clancy,
We, the undersigned, are family members and concerned citizens who are urging the leaders in the US Secret Service to act now and terminate SAIC Kerry O’Grady from the duties she boldly stated she will not perform.
O’Grady was placed on indefinite paid leave following The Washington Examiner’s report of her Facebook post and the Secret Service is conducting a review of her online activity.
It stands to reason that O’Grady should no longer be in the Secret Service. Her job isn’t simply pushing paper around a desk as she is the special agent in charge of making sure all presidential and vice presidential trips are prepared for ahead of time, and that the areas the president or vice president travel to during their stay are as secure as possible.
The petition goes on to state that,
As family members of Special Agents that put their lives on the line every day for “the protective mission”, we are outraged by her lack of respect for her colleagues and those that find themselves under her command. She has lost all credibility with the agents, their families and the American people that pay her salary. US Secret Service agents are the defenders of democracy. They are ALL that stands between those who would harm our national leaders and they are sworn to defend the constitution, giving the ultimate sacrifice if necessary. Ms. O’Grady stated she will not defend our democracy. Her statements show an incredible lack of judgment that can not be tolerated so close to the heart of our government.
Agent O’Grady clearly stated that she would not perform her duty if needed. If she won’t resign, she should be fired.
If past is prologue, O’Grady’s career will hardly be over. The left is currently looking for any and every “resistance” hero they can contrive to trot out before the media and at rallies. Her chopping block predecessor, former interim-Attorney General Sally Yates, already has a bill submitted in her honor in the U.S. House praising her actions.
