Laura Ingraham Shows Her Bigotry on Immigration

Conservatives should support their own when they are right and they should never shy away from condemning allies when they’re wrong.

I don’t always agree with Laura Ingraham over at FOX News but I do recognize when she’s being treated unfairly. One such example happened earlier this year when nearly 30 advertisers pulled out from her show, Ingraham Angle, after comments she made about a well-known high school shooting survivor. I maintain that she should not have made those comments about a teenaged individual but do not think the mob, stirred up by her opponents and focused on starting a boycott, was appropriate, either.

But now is a time when Ms. Ingraham should be called out for her blatant, anti-American bigotry.

On the Wednesday evening edition of her show, Ingraham did a segment on Ocasio-Cortez, immigration, and the America that we once knew. Here’s what she said, emphasis mine.

…in some parts of the country, it does seem like the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore. Massive demographic changes have been foisted on the American people and they’re changes that none of us ever voted for and most of us don’t like. From Virginia to California, we see stark examples of how radically in some ways the country has changed. Now, much of this is related to both illegal and in some cases legal immigration that of course progressives love.”

The dislike that she possesses for people who may be different than us is starkly evident.

Now, I absolutely understand the need to address illegal immigration. It is an actual problem that should be dealt with swiftly and logically. But legal immigration?! There’s a problem with allowing individuals who seek a better life to follow laws and become citizens of our nation?

Careful, Laura. Your tendency toward white supremacy is showing. I won’t support it.

Americans who have resided in this great country of ours do not own its citizenship. That is true no matter if they’re black, white, or any shade in between. Perhaps Laura Ingraham is upset that the America of now looks different than the idyllic bubble she existed in during her 1960s childhood? If she is frustrated at the changes brought on by allowing illegal immigration, that is one thing. However, she includes the lawful side of immigration in her argument and determines that because our neighborhoods are a bit more diverse than they used to be, then something is wrong.

Laura, I know you’re a part of the New York elite, but that diversity you despise is America. And we should always support the immigrants who legally find their way and pepper our towns, cities, and states with their lives.

A common response to immigration is the fear that white culture is somehow threatened. This is fueled by alt-right, tiki torch-carrying imbeciles like Richard Spencer, the brainiacs over at Infowars, and others who dwell in a putrid pit of supposed superiority. How is this white culture under attack, exactly? Because someone of a different background, race, and culture sets up camp on this American ground and lives their life? Racists really are the true snowflakes, aren’t they?

If a disintegration of your culture is worrisome, then perhaps you should teach your kids and their kids about their own ancestry and heritage? Celebrate your lives and the lives of those who have gone before. Amazingly enough, the mere existence of other cultures doesn’t actually diminish yours.

This seems to be the lesson that Laura Ingraham is incapable of learning.

It’s clear that the FOX News host detests the diversity that comes about from an influx of legal immigrants. That is nothing but anti-American sentiment. Period. As usual, those who think whatever emanates from the shiny studios of FOX News is the gospel truth will berate me for my supposed disinterest in protecting our country.

America is made up of a diverse population of individuals. These citizens were either born here or legally discovered the opportunity and hope that exists within our borders later in life. I won’t ever ask legal immigrants to leave because they don’t look, think, or act like me.

Laura Ingraham’s display of bigotry and racism is what really has no place.
