Rex Tillerson is out of a job with news reports this morning that Donald Trump has fired his Secretary of State.
Tillerson, whose entire tenure at State has been marred by rumors he and the President weren’t on the same page, was informed on Friday that he would be replaced by Mike Pompeo, who is currently head of the CIA.
Trump told Tillerson last Friday he was replacing him as secretary of state. He’s tapped Pompeo for Foggy Bottom and CIA’s No. 2, Gina Haspel, to succeed Pompeo. https://t.co/MhQAQqkMyk

Tillerson’s remarks on the global stage have frequently been contradicted by Trump and other members of the Trump Administration, leading to long-standing rumors that he would be ousted sooner rather than later.
However, Trump did take the time to thank Tillerson for his service – in a tweet.
Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!

The change in foreign policy personnel comes as Trump’s national security team plans for an upcoming meeting between the President and North Korea ruler Kim Jong Un.
