Not that this should surprise anyone, really. At a rally last night, the Republican candidate read a glowing letter from Bill Belichick (that sounds as though it were written by Trump himself) and said Tom Brady had told him he had voted for Trump. Except, on a Monday radio show, Brady said he had not voted yet, and early voting in the Boston area ended on Friday. Here’s the “letter” from the Patriots coach:
Congratulations on a tremendous campaign. You have to help with an unbelievable slanted and negative media and have come out beautifully. You have proven to be the ultimate competitor fighter. Your leadership is amazing. I have always had tremendous respect for you for the toughness and perseverance you have displayed over the past year is remarkable. Hopefully tomorrow’s election, the results will give the opportunity to make America great again.
Best wishes for great results tomorrow,
Bill Belichick.
That is the most Trump sounding piece of text I have ever read. Trump has maybe six adjectives he uses (unbelievable, amazing, tremendous, great, top, and illegal) and most of them were in this letter used in the exact way Trump always uses them.
What’s more, Brady’s wife, Gisele, posted on Instagram that she and Tom were not, in fact, supporting or voting for Trump.
Just throwing this out there. (Top comments.) pic.twitter.com/a3svMKTLGx

The Patriots haven’t officially come out and responded to Trump’s references to their organization, and one wonders if they actually will. However, the evidence suggests that Trump is lying (surprise!) and that he is using whatever cheap pop he can get to rally his supporters right before they go out and vote.
UPDATE: Apparently, Brady did indeed vote via absentee, having dropped the ballot off yesterday. However, he has not publicly said who he voted for and Gisele’s comments still lead us to believe they do not support Trump.
