With the heat continuing to pile out, CNN is all over what appears to be the biggest game changer yet: Mike Pence could be considering dropping out of the race, leaving Donald Trump with no running mate.

This follows a story that went live on CNN’s site just after 9 p.m. ET alleging that senior GOP officials are trying to convince him to drop out.
One of the scenarios being played out by GOP party elders is convincing Pence to leave the ticket. Vin Weber, a former Jeb Bush supporter, says he would “absolutely” call for Pence to leave the ticket as a way to put “immeasurable pressure” on Trump to leave the race.
“Pence is the anchor that keeps Trump in the race,” so without him it would be over for the candidate, Weber said.
It would put us in uncharted waters should Pence decide he no longer wants to be part of the sideshow act. There is no precedent and there seem to be no rules that state whether you even can or can’t do that.
