Last year, California was in the grips of a water shortage that, we in California were told, was the result of Global Warming. Water storage, rather than water shortage, was the culprit. In 2014, California passed Proposition 1, which allocated $2.7 billion for water storage. Was the money spent? Now, nine years later, most of it remains unspent.
Climate nuts have taken action to make their concerns known. Sure, they throw soup on priceless works of art, glue themselves to concrete, or block traffic – but there is a cadre of nuts who will burn down forests, set fire to national parks, and in the process, burn down homes to make their point. Last year (right before California saw one of its wettest winters in recent history), Yosemite National Park and the surrounding 19,000 + acres were set ablaze.
In July of 2022, a new wildfire erupted near Yosemite National Park. It quickly got out of control and consumed vast sections of forest and destroyed 127 homes. Al Gore, the Oracle who has never been right and never passes on the chance to hyperventilate about the weather, declared that the fire was further evidence that: “The survival of our civilization is at stake.”
Maybe. But it isn’t the climate or the weather that has been to blame for many of the fires. It’s climate nuts. In Canada, several wildfires started, and the resulting smoke choked a large portion of the east coast. Climate alarmists were quick to point out that an increase in temperature and a decrease in water lends to more wildfires. But this June’s Canadian wildfires were not all caused by dry lightning. At least half were man-made or man-caused. Last July, California saw the latter with the Oak fire being intentionally set.
The man who set that fire is a wackadoo named Edward Fredrick Wackerman. No, I am not kidding — that is his real name. When the 71-year-old Wackerman isn’t setting fires and destroying forests and homes, he’s donating to Democrats or nut-job organizations. According to Washington Free Beacon:
[Wackerman] has donated $1,775 to Democratic candidates and committees since 2020, government records show, including a $1,000 donation to Tim Ryan’s failed U.S. Senate campaign in 2022 and $400 to the Lincoln Project, a disgraced liberal super PAC.
The Mariposa County Dist. Atty announced the arrest:
“The arrest of the arson suspect Edward Wackerman is a step towards justice but it cannot undo the damage already done,” Briese told reporters outside the Mariposa County courthouse. He noted that the blaze — the worst fire in the county’s history — did $8 million in property damage and cost $100 million to eventually knock down.
There were smaller blazes set days before the massive Oak Fire, and although Wackerman wasn’t (yet) charged with setting those fires, it seems rather coincidental that those fires were close to Wackerman’s 44-acre property and were set right before the Oak Fire went out of control.
Wackerman was arraigned on Tuesday and, if convicted, faces a life sentence. Also, if convicted, Wackerman could still donate more money to Democrat causes like the Lincoln Project while sitting in a prison cell. He’s presumably living on a nice public pension.
Wackerman is a retired firefighter.
