Incoming Presidents almost always get a bump in the polls after an election and Donald Trump is no different. In a Politico/Morning Consult poll, Trump’s numbers increased significantly after election day:
Forty-six percent of voters now have a very favorable or somewhat favorable opinion of the president-elect. Twelve percent have a somewhat unfavorable opinion and 34 percent have a very unfavorable opinion of him.
It’s a dramatic uptick since the election. Trump’s favorability has grown 9 points, 37 percent to 46 percent, compared to a Morning Consult poll right before the election — while his unfavorability has dropped 15 points, from 61 percent to 46 percent.
The most interesting part of this survey is the section having to do with some of Donald Trump’s appointments. It’s primarily another example of how people who follow politics closely are in somewhat of a bubble when it comes politics.
More than half of the respondents have either never heard of or have no opinion of Steve Bannon, Reince Priebus or Jeff Sessions.
52% (32% never heard of, 20% no opinion) for Steve Bannon
52% (33% never heard of, 19% no opinion) for Reince Priebus
62% (39% never heard of, 23% no opinion) for Jeff Sessions
These are pretty dramatic numbers when you think about it. A third of registered voters in the United States have never heard of three people who have been in the news more in the last two weeks than they’ve been in the last two years.
