Joe Scarborough Wins the Award for Most Ridiculous Spin on Biden's Cognitive Abilities

I try really hard not to use cliches like "jumped the shark" but MSNBC's Joe Scarborough is making it very hard not to.

Scarborough was covering Haley's upcoming dropout announcement when he decided to do the impossible and defend Joe Biden's cognitive capabilities. You might as well try to push a camel through the eye of the needle, but impossibility means nothing to leftists in the media.

"He's far beyond cogent," said Scarborough. "In fact, I think he's better than he's ever been. Intellectually, analytically, because he's been around for 50 years"

Scarborough then proceeded to defend Biden's snapping at people, including members of the press.

"I don't know if people know this or not, but Biden used to be a hot head," continued Scarborough. "Sometimes that Irishman would get in front of the reasoning. Sometimes he would say things he didn't want to say."

That's when Scarborough decided to go all-in on defending Biden's mental capacity, declaring that people should "start your tape right now," and adding "F you if you can't handle the truth."

"This version of Biden, intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever," said Scarborough. "Not a close second and I've known him for years. The Brzezinski's have known him for 50 years. If it weren't the truth, I wouldn't say it."

Watching that clip, it's unclear who Scarborough is trying to convince. Us or himself.

As Mike Miller wrote on Wednesday, a recent poll from ABC/Ipsos showed that nearly nine out of 10 Americans believe Biden is too advanced in age to serve a second term, and as Brit Hume said, the country can see he's "palpably senile."

You don't need to be involved or paying too close attention to politics to see Biden's problems. The man mumbles and stumbles through speeches, reaches out to shake hands with no one, says he spoke to people who have been dead for a while, admits his staff doesn't allow him to take questions, and has such bizarre speaking habits that Dana Carvey's impression of him is more of a recreation than an exaggeration.

What credibility Scarborough had, if he had any left at all, has pretty much been buried along with any chance of Biden being taken seriously. When the general public is so aware of it that comedians are making jokes that the general public laughs along with, it's over. There's no convincing anyone that Biden is mentally capable, and the only people who will be convinced he is are the people who really want to be...like Scarborough.

In fact, he's so desperate to believe it that he's willing to get a little combative about it with self-censored vulgarity.

Deep down, I don't think he believes it. I don't think anyone at that table believes it, and I don't think anyone watching at home believes it either. What you're seeing is a hefty dose of cope.
