Democratic Candidate Arrested Over Stalking Charges

Democratic Congressional candidate David Alcon of New Mexico has been arrested over stalking a woman from Sante Fe.

According to KRQE, police found Alcon at an apartment complex in Albuquerque, New Mexico after an arrest warrant was issued two weeks ago:

A woman attending a Halloween party on October 28 at a hotel in Santa Fe said she started receiving persistent texts from Alcon — some suggesting that he was watching her, other messages professing his love for her, and one picture of his genitals.

Later that night, the woman said Alcon texted her again, that he was outside her apartment.

A warrant for Alcon’s arrest was issued on October 30. Now, rather than turning himself into Santa Fe police, Alcon was arrested Friday in Albuquerque.

Alcon was found after police responded to a welfare check at 3:30 on Friday. According to KRQE, APD did not elaborate as to what happened when Alcon was found, just that the Democratic candidate was arrested.

KRQE reported Alcon has previously been convicted of stalking in 2007. Inquiries from KRQE to Alcon’s campaign staff have not been answered.
