Videographer Physically Body-Checked, Blocked From Recording Pro-Hamas Protesters at UCLA

On Friday, videographer and blogger Andy Ngo took to X to present footage showing a videographer trying to enter the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) campus to document the protest encampment there, only to be physically blocked by masked and vaguely threatening protesters.

The footage prompts a few questions.

First: Why are these useful idiots covering their faces? Are they still hooked by the COVID fear-mongering, or are they (and I find this more likely) trying to conceal their identities? If so, who are they hiding from? The authorities? Their parents? It wouldn't be a huge surprise for some parents, seeing their child engaging in this, to call them and tell them, "OK, I'm not paying for you to go to UCLA so you can camp in the lawn and protest in favor of murderers; you're cut off." Some of us are old enough to remember the anti-war protests of the late '60s and early '70s, and I'll give the hippies credit for one thing; most of them were committed enough to show their faces.

Second: Why are these useful idiots protesting in favor of the side that started the war? They love to shout for a ceasefire, but there was a ceasefire in place, up until October 7th of 2023--a cease-fire that Hamas broke by committing some of the worst atrocities seen so far in the 21st century, and the worst slaughter of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Third: If these useful idiots were really committed to their cause - if they believed in it, thought it had merit, and wanted to sway others to their side, wouldn't it be in their interest to not only allow reporters and videographers in but to encourage them to move about in their encampment, to talk to the people involved, to listen to and report on the reasons for their support for a regime run by murderous thugs?

Okay, in that last bit, I think I may have answered my own question.

These pro-Hamas protests and encampments are growing in size across the country, including in California, not only at UCLA but at the University of Southern California (USC), where the campus authorities have been less patient, even to the point of canceling their commencement observation, as RedState's Becca Lower wrote on Thursday. That came after the administrators scrapped not only a speech by their valedictorian but all their other speakers as well. As I wrote on April 20th:

So, if the university can't trust their valedictorian to deliver a properly respectful address, one that properly reflects the dignity of the occasion, best to drop all the speakers. That's sad, but it's probably the best they could do - and some of the USC administration should be taking a good hard look in the mirror. While USC made the best of a bad situation here, and while this is one of those cases of "one bad apple ruining it for everybody," this is also the result of an academic institution offering crap courses that represent indoctrination, not education.

On Friday, right here at RedState, we had a good look at just who is funding a lot of this.

And funding is, in fact, key to this whole problem. That is very probably why these young skulls full of mush cover their faces; one would suspect they don't want any future employers recognizing them. If I were hiring for a startup in California - and back in my corporate consulting career I worked with a lot of high-tech startups, in California and elsewhere, and was frequently called upon to help with screening prospective employees - I wouldn't touch one of these useful idiots with an 11-foot bohunk, which is what one uses when a 10-foot pole is too short.

Did I mention that these kids are useful idiots?

These young skulls full of mush are shouting all the predictable, over-used slogans - racism, sexism (oh, the irony, protesting for Hamas while decrying sexism!) colonialism, oppression, Zionism, all these emotionally-charged terms that are, essentially, free of any meaning.

It is, as the Bard said, "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
