Another Teacher Gets Caught Having Sex With a Student – The Newsy Part Is Who She's Married To

Yeah, so here we go, again. Another teacher has been caught having sex with a student. But here's the not "here we go, again" part: The 45-year-old substitute teacher was caught in the act in the backseat of her husband's car, and he's a Harvard-educated director at the U.S. Department of Defense.

In my mind, that makes the story newsworthy.

Erin Ward, 45, allegedly confessed to having sex with the 17-year-old boy — a student at Burke High School in Nebraska where she worked as a part-time teacher.

By sleeping with the teen, Ward is also accused of cheating on her husband, a director at the US Department of Defense — with whom she shares three kids.
Doug Ward has spent nearly two decades with the US Strategic Command, one of the unified combatant commands within the Defense Department, headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, according to his LinkedIn page.
Ward began his career as deputy branch chief in 2005 and was promoted to deputy director of the commander’s action group in February, his profile states.

So here's the thing:

Mr. Ward appears to be in the middle of an impeccable, somewhat high profile, career. I say that only as an observation, meaning we neither know the details of the Wards' relationship nor is it our business. That said, it's amusing — at least — that Mrs. Ward would expose herself (pun intended) like this.

There's a bit of humor here, unless you're Mr. or Mrs. Ward, or a member of their family.

Officers had responded to a call for a suspicious car parked on a dead-end street around 3 a.m. When they peeked into the vehicle, they saw the naked substitute teacher with the partially clothed teen in the backseat, the sheriff’s office said.
The panicked teen hurried to the driver’s seat and sped off in the vehicle but crashed two blocks later — at which point he got out and fled on foot. Ward remained in the car, where she got dressed and then allegedly confessed to sleeping with the boy.
The high schooler was later found hiding in a yard in only his T-shirt and underwear, according to the sheriff’s office. Because [he] was above the age of consent — 16 — in Nebraska, the teacher dodged statutory rape charges but was still hit with the felony count of sexual abuse by a school employee.

So here's the other thing:

While no story that hurts people or their families is funny, this one begs the question of Erin Ward: "What the hell were you thinking?"

The Bottom Line

Once again, we see the hypocrisy of the left. I'm talking about left-wing feminist hypocrisy. Where's the outcry? Crickets. Yet, if we flipped the script — a male teacher caught in the act with a female student — all hell would break loose on CNN, MSNBC, and of course on the set of ABC's ridiculous "The View."

To be clear, the sex of a teacher or affected student should be a non-factor in cases like this one, and news outlets should cover them equally. That will happen when pigs take flight and hell freezes over.
