The world of politics and Washington D.C. has been called in the past “Hollywood for ugly people” and I have always believed that in a way. Occasionally though, the two worlds cross over. Ronald Reagan went from Hollywood into politics as did Fred Thompson. The latest example would be Donald Trump and now comes word that California Congresshack, Adam Schiff, might face a challenge in the future from a familiar name in the entertainment world…

Dr. Drew Pinsky.

I came to know about Dr. Drew way back in the day with Adam Carolla on the wildly popular show “Loveline” back in the ’90s. The two of them made an entertaining and informative show about somewhat difficult topics to talk about.

Now Pinsky is possibly looking at running for Congress and he just happens to live in good ole Adam Schiff’s district. According to Fox News

Addiction expert and reality show star Dr. Drew Pinsky is reportedly mulling a congressional run and is considering mounting a bid against his current congressman, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.

Pinsky, who has been an outspoken commentator on homelessness and the opioid crisis, told The Hill that seeing the impeachment hearings on television increased his desire to get involved in the political process.

“I was watching all the impeachment proceedings and I was going, ‘Oh my God, our Congress is tied up and we’re dying out here in California. What are these people doing?’ ”

Pinsky, 61, lamented the lack of action from Schiff, specifically with regard to the issue of homelessness in the state of California.

“I wake up every day and drive through this town and I am morally moved where I feel like I have to do something,” he said. “We have people literally dying in our streets.”

Drew is concerned about the homeless crisis in California and he should be. The state is a ticking time bomb of regular social norms breaking down and he has been concerned about this plus the opioid crisis for a while. I’m not sure that running for federal office would be the best way to go about this but Dr. Drew’s point is well taken. Adam Schiff is not doing the job of the people in California.

Anyone would be better than Schiff in that seat and whether it is Dr. Drew Pinsky or someone else who is not just willing to serve Washington D.C.’s special interests and not California it would be a vast improvement.
