Pandemonium Erupts After Troy Nehls Dings Eric Swalwell’s ‘Checkered Past’ During House Hearing

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) is a failed presidential candidate, a lousy Congressman, a dupe for a Chinese spy, and a complete slimeball – things pretty much everyone knows.

But for the few people who may not, Swalwell removed all doubt on the “slimeball” point Tuesday during the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement hearing on one of the many troubling aspects of the Biden border crisis: the “Exploitation of Unaccompanied Alien Children.”

Now one might think that the focus of the hearing would be on the actual subject matter as noted above. But as per the norm, Swalwell, who routinely accuses his Republican colleagues on the committees he sits on of terrorism, racism, anti-Semitism, and other vile things while conveniently skirting around the rules that forbid such attacks on a fellow member, used his time to personally attack a Republican witness, Sheena Rodriguez, who is the founder and president of Alliance for a Safe Texas.

The group’s stated mission is “to inform and educate our fellow Texans of the consequences of illegal immigration and the open border policies.” But neither that nor exploited migrant children are what Swalwell wanted to talk about. He chose instead to relentlessly attack Rodriguez because she happened to be near the Capitol building on the day of the Capitol riot.

Though Rodriguez did not participate in the more unfortunate events of that day, Swalwell’s goal was to make her guilty by association, both because she was in the area and apparently because she allegedly tweeted about “fighting for Trump” prior to the events of Jan. 6th, 2021.

Watch below as Swalwell badgers Rodriguez from start to finish over issues that have nothing to do with migrant children being exploited at the border, so much so that at one point she point-blank demanded to know what his absurd line of questioning had to do with exploited children:

It was after Swalwell’s time expired (he had previously refused to yield his time) that Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) went off on Swalwell, apologizing to Rodriguez for being subjected to what she was from a guy like Swalwell who has a “checkered past” and who has “had alleged affairs with ‘Yum Yum.'” As Nehls was saying this, pandemonium erupted with Democrats including Swalwell objecting, with Swalwell at one point saying to Nehls “you don’t get to say that sh*t!”

I’m not sure what was funnier here, that Nehls called Swalwell out in the first place or that he called Fang Fang, Swalwell’s alleged former Chinese honey trap girlfriend, “Yum Yum.”

At another point, Swalwell bizarrely accused people who don’t stand with him on the issue of strict gun control as being “on the side of helping” child killers:

Nehls’ zinging Swalwell on the Fang Fang point follows a similar incident from April 19th when, fresh off of accusing Republicans on another committee of being anti-Semites, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) used her time to put Swalwell on the hot seat over the Fang Fang issue.

“That was quite entertaining from someone that had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy. And everyone knows it!” Greene said during the contentious exchange, after which chaos also ensued.

I’ve seen some conservatives talk about how this is not how hearings should devolve, that the rules of decorum should be observed, etc. And under normal circumstances, I’d agree with them. But we aren’t in normal times, and Swalwell is not just a run-of-the-mill Congressman.

He’s a pompous liar, an obscene jerk, and worse, wants to take away rights that are enshrined in the Constitution, and the way he goes about it is by trying to slime and smear his political opposition any way he can, whether on social media, MSNBC, or in a House hearing.

I’m totally fine with Republicans playing hardball when it comes to people like Swalwell. What he advocates for would profoundly change America into the type of country she should never be, and his Republican counterparts in the House should not hesitate to rip him to shreds in the court of public opinion when he’s practically begging for it, as happened Tuesday.
