Fired CNN Host Chris Cuomo Proceeds to Spill the Tea as War of Words Escalates

I gotta admit that even with knowing all he did over the last 20 months in grossly abusing his position as a prominent national media figure to assist in his disgraced brother and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s various PR campaigns, I did not have “Chris Cuomo gets fired from CNN” on my 2021 bingo card, and yet here we are.

In my view, CNN missed their opportunity to can Cuomo after the initial revelations back in May about him advising Andrew Cuomo in the midst of the multiple sexual harassment allegations he faced. At the time, Cuomo suggested he was merely “looped in” on some strategy calls, an obvious lie considering how often he emphasized “family first” on his “Prime Time” broadcasts.

That “family first” mentality became more than obvious in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, where Andrew Cuomo was brought on for cutesy “interviews,” including one embarrassing segment where oversized cotton swab props were brought on set. This was all happening questions were being raised about then-Gov. Cuomo’s deadly nursing home directive, which both Cuomo and his CNN colleagues purposely ignored for months.

In any event, anyone who thought Cuomo would go quietly into the night in the aftermath of getting dumped by CNN might be surprised to find out that he has decided to spill the tea on his former employer. Courtesy of the Wall Street Journal, we’re learning that Cuomo – through a spokesman – is alleging the network’s president Jeff Zucker knew all along as to the extent of Cuomo’s involvement in advising his brother, and yet allowed him to stay on:

A spokesman for Mr. Cuomo said in a text message on Sunday: “Mr. Cuomo has the highest level of admiration and respect for Mr. Zucker. They were widely known to be extremely close and in regular contact, including about the details of Mr. Cuomo’s support for his brother. There were no secrets about this, as other individuals besides Mr. Cuomo can attest.”

The paper also noted that CNN is denying Zucker knew the depth of Cuomo’s role in strategizing on behalf of his brother:

CNN said in a written statement it is disappointed with Mr. Cuomo’s characterization of events. “He has made a number of accusations that are patently false,” the network said. “This reinforces why he was terminated for violating our standards and practices, as well as his lack of candor.”

Though Chris Cuomo is a known liar and journalistic fraud, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I believe him when he says Jeff Zucker knew and did nothing until NY Attorney Gen. Tish James – and perhaps CNN parent company Warner-Discovery – forced his hand last week.

It has been well-documented that being a “resistance” network is exactly what Zucker wanted after Donald Trump was elected, and Cuomo was exactly the type of “journalist” Zucker liked being on his network because he fell so easily into the anti-Trump role others at CNN did, especially after the pandemic started and he had the opportunity to plump his brother’s pillow a few times at the expense of both Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Plus, CNN enjoyed the access Chris Cuomo gave them into the world of arguably one of the most powerful governors in America. They weren’t going to let go of that easily.

Cuomo’s only out now because Zucker really was given no other choice after letting him skate first in May and then again in August when it was further revealed that Cuomo was a point person in crafting official statements on behalf of his brother.

But regardless of whether or not Cuomo is telling the truth about what Zucker knew, one thing that is satisfying beyond Cuomo getting his just deserts is the fact that they are both burning themselves and each other to the ground as we speak. A rather fitting position to be in for the disgraced former anchor and the network that most definitely is not a real news organization, despite their claims to the contrary.
