The focal point for mainstream media over the last couple of days has not been on how Joe Biden lied repeatedly during the debate and wouldn’t answer a key question about packing the Supreme Court, but instead on how President Trump allegedly “refused” to condemn white supremacy when debate moderator Chris Wallace asked him about it Tuesday night.

The claim is not true, of course, as the transcript clearly shows, but facts have never stopped the MSM from crafting a false narrative when it comes to Republicans especially on race issues, and this week has been no exception to that rule.

A perfect illustration of this came Wednesday from Jake Tapper. CNN’s “The Lead” host interviewed Trump campaign comms director Tim Murtaugh in what ended up being a very heated exchange where Murtaugh had the nerve to bring up Biden’s record on race and contrast it with Trump’s. He also refuted Tapper’s claim that Trump would not condemn white supremacy.

Murtaugh’s refusal to let Tapper get away with perpetuating the BS narrative about Trump and white supremacy infuriated the anchor, who unprofessionally proclaimed “I’m not Chris Wallace” before cutting Murtaugh off and quickly moving on to another topic.

The Trump campaign was not about to let Tapper off the hook, however. They shared a video clip a short time later of Tapper asking Murtaugh “Why is it so difficult for President Trump to say ‘I condemn white supremacy’?” while in the very next clip (which they played on loop) showing Tapper on CNN in 2019 noting that Trump had in fact condemned neo-Nazis and white supremacists:

Tapper at the time was setting people straight who were lying about Trump’s comments on Charlottesville:

So if Tapper knows Trump has condemned white supremacists in the past (and he’d know he did Tuesday as well if he was interested in being honest), why did he not mention it during yesterday’s contentious back and forth? Why even ask the gotcha question when he already knows the answer?

I think the reason why is pretty obvious, but I’ll let readers be the judge of that.
