Former GOP Congressional candidate Dan Bongino, a conservative firebrand who has his own radio program, revealed during his radio show Wednesday that he was diagnosed this week with a “very scary” neck tumor.

The Fox News commentator and former Secret Service agent told viewers and listeners yesterday that he first talked to a doctor about the tumor after receiving multiple messages from fans in recent weeks pointing out that he had a lump on his neck. Bongino assumed it was either a non-cancerous lipoma, which he says he gets occasionally, or that the lump came from “swelling” he got after he was “choked out in Jiu Jitsu a few weeks ago.”

After consulting with a friend of his who is a doctor, the friend advised Bongino to get an MRI immediately. When he did, he found out it was much more concerning than a lipoma or swelling.

“I noticed when I came out of the MRI machine that the look on the doctor’s face changed a little bit as he told me in the room inside that it is not a lipoma,” Bongino stated. “Which was very scary. Now, that’s the bad news”

“So the good news”, Bongino continued on, “is [though] it’s a tumor, it’s a strong likelihood that it is not, in fact, cancerous. We don’t know what it is. It’s in a very weird spot in my neck, near my carotid artery and near vocal cords and things, and it is big. It’s 7 centimeters head to caboose and front to back. So it’s something to sneeze about for us. But it’s scary.”

Bongino, who just found out the news on Tuesday, was understandably emotional throughout the announcement, at times taking a few moments to compose himself. He also thanked his family, his colleagues at Fox, his medical team, and his audience for the support, and pledged to continue fighting for better days ahead, both politically and personally.
