Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was out promoting a new bill meant to deal with a lot of the issues we are seeing from radical leftist rioting, making sure that rioters are held accountable, unlike in other states.

DeSantis described the bill to Tucker Carlson last night, noting it would involve actually holding people and charging them with felonies unlike in Democratic jurisdictions such as Portland.

It references RICO liability to be able to tag those organizing a violent assembly. It also makes harassing and intimidating diners, a common tactic of the BLM, a misdemeanor. It also increases penalties for toppling monuments or blocking roadways.

But, as my colleague Brandon Morse reported earlier, one of the big ones that gets attention was the dealing with obstruction of the roadways. The bill makes the driver not liable if he has to flee for his own safety and someone is hit in the process.

We’ve seen this constant practice of the BLM end in tragedy, with deaths and assaults.

Now the bill caused some on the left to flip out, claiming that this was somehow criminalizing peaceful protest. That of course is nonsense. But it’s those who think that some how being violent and/or harassing other people is somehow “peaceful.”

But Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd had a response to them, for those who had difficulties, including the “slow learners.” Check the face of Ron DeSantis behind him as he cracks up at one point in the explanation.

Judd pointed out a picture of a “peaceful protest” then a picture of a car aflame. “This is a riot,” he said about the car aflame. “We can tell the difference. Our Governor can tell the difference. Our law enforcement can tell the difference.” “In the event you didn’t get that,” he said, “This is a peaceful protest,” showing one picture. “This is looting,” he said showing a looting picture. “If you loot, the next thing you can try and steal is something off of your food tray at the county jail, cause you’re going to jail. That’s a guarantee.” “Some people are slow learners,” he continued. “This is a peaceful protest” showing another picture. “This is violence. It’s not acceptable,” he said showing a picture of someone trying to smash a windshield. He said safeguarding peaceful protest was important. But he also pointed to places across the nation where the politicians abdicated their responsibility to protect the people and/or support the police. Judd thanked DeSantis and the other politicians there at the press conference for putting forth the bill and being supportive of the police and the people.

Gotta love it! Perfect. For the “slow learners.”
