Radical leftists are complaining about an incident in Kenosha that some of their “comrades” were “kidnapped by the feds in unmarked vans.”

They’re of course trying to hype the whole “unidentified” secret police thing, the gambit they tried to push with some success in Portland. Here’s inflammatory headline from Newsweek, “Kenosha Protesters Arrested, Forced Into Unmarked Cars by Police.”

From Newsweek:

“Our whole Riot Kitchen crew, who had been in Kenosha today to feed protesters, has just been violently arrested by feds in unmarked vans,” Riot Kitchen 206 board member Jennifer Scheurle tweeted.

“My friends who have done nothing but good for people have just been kidnapped and we are trying to find them.

“Please help us. You’ve seen what we do and what our mission is. We want to feed people. We want to help the revolution. They smashed the window of one of our cars and threw people on the ground. No crimes were committed.

“I’m trying to not freak out and we’re trying to find them but honestly: I’m freaking out. I know these people. They are my friends. They sat in my living room talking about how to feed the revolution and the homeless. They want to do nothing but good. They were kidnapped today.”

Except every department has “unmarked vehicles” and the law enforcement had “POLICE” emblazoned all over. So not exactly “kidnapped.” And of course no one is arrested because they are “protesters,” there’s always more to the story.

They were “Riot Kitchen” people who tweeted about it, from their account “Riot Kitchen.” Riot Kitchen used to be the folks who were from Seattle and then had a branch in Portland. Riot Ribs in Portland got a $300,000 donation, helped in part with a tweet from a Democratic politician promoting them for providing “food” to the “protesters.” But there were questions if they were providing more than just food. Then they closed up shop, bought a van and went on the road to help other “protests.”

Kenosha police said that they’d received a tip about the vehicles including a black bus and a bread truck with the out of state plates filling up multiple gas cans at a gas station. They were concerned that criminal activity was underway related to the riots, they surrounded the vehicle and hauled everyone out. They even bashed in one of the windows to facilitate the job. They were assisted by U.S. Marshals which suggests to me that the feds were likely looking at this group and crossing state lines to be involved.

They detained the people in the bus and the bread truck. The van tried to drive away, but they nabbed it too and all the occupants inside.

What did they find? According to the police, they found in the vehicles helmets, gas masks, protective vests, illegal fireworks and suspected controlled substances. Nine people were arrested for disorderly conduct and other charges are now pending.

What did they plan on doing with the illegal fireworks and the cans of gas? Are they a source of fireworks that suddenly showed up in the Kenosha riots? If that’s what they were doing, they could get some hefty federal charges.
