A toilet in a front yard in Mason, Michigan, with a “Place Mail In Ballots Here!” sign next to it, might be considered a political statement. However you interpret it, a county clerk said it might be illegal.

What a bunch of crap. (OK you know I had to do that.)

Under Michigan election law, illegally taking possession of an absentee ballot is a felony punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison and a $1,000 fine, as reported by the Lansing State Journal.

Wait — does the knucklehead county clerk actually think people might deposit mail-in ballots in a toilet in somebody’s front yard? Don’t get me wrong; I understand the symbolism and all, but really?

Yes.

Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum told the Journal paper ballots have already gone out, and she believes it’s possible someone who is unfamiliar with the process could end up “flushing their vote” by depositing it in the front yard toilet.

Maybe it’s just me, but anyone “unintelligent” enough to drop their ballot in a toilet in a random yard deserves for their vote not to count.

Byrum told the Journal:

“”It’s solicitation of absentee ballots into a container. Our election integrity is not a game. I expect everyone to act appropriately, and this is unacceptable.”

“This kind of behavior needs to be quashed immediately. They are making a mockery of our elections. I’m not going to stand idly by and watch it happen.”

That said, Byrum promptly filed a police report. She told the paper Mason police contacted her on Wednesday and promised to call her after they’d spoken with the unidentified homeowner.

Washington Times opinion editor and Fox News political analyst Charlie Hurt noted that, in embattled Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Michigan, only anarchists who point lasers at police officers’ eyes, and carry Molotov cocktails and nunchucks, are allowed to mock elections.

A wider view of the yard reveals that the homeowner clearly has his or her head screwed on straight — given the “Recall Whitmer Now” sign.

The Democrat governor has been under fire from Michigan voters all summer over draconian lockdowns during the COVID pandemic.

In late July, Whitmer gave the go-ahead for Detroit’s three casinos to re-open in early August at greatly-reduced capacity but dialed back economic re-openings in Northern Michigan.

As for the front yard toilet display, this guy had a good point.

“If this was anti-Trump, they would call it art.”

Stranger things have happened in this very strange year.

Then again, Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum losing her crap over a mail-in ballot toilet spoof in a front yard tells you all you need to know about what she thinks about Democrat voters.
