Progressives are big mad that President Donald Trump is expected to nominate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. Their hysteria has become so intense that they are resorting to a slew of ridiculous attacks against the judge and have even resorted to brazen religious bigotry

Naturally, the left’s behavior in this has come under fire from conservatives who are rightly excoriating the left for its apparent animus toward Christianity. But it isn’t just Republicans who are criticizing the anti-Christian sentiment coming from progressives. On Friday, black religious leaders publicly castigated Democrats for attacking Barrett for her faith.

In a letter, they slammed those using Barrett’s religion against her. They wrote:

“We do not know whether she will be nominated for a seat on the Supreme Court of the United States, for which she is by all reports under consideration. But we do know that attacks on her Christian beliefs and her membership in a charismatic Christian community reflect rank religious bigotry that has no legitimate place in our political debates or public life.”

The leaders continued, expressing their disgust with the Democrats’ behavior. “We condemn these vile attacks—which began three years ago during the process of her confirmation for the judicial post she currently holds. As the descendants of slaves we are particularly sensitive to acts of discrimination and we demand an end to this reprehensible conduct,” they wrote.

The letter, titled “A Black Defense of Freedom of Conscience and Amy Coney Barrett,” was published by the Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies, an organization that trains and educates black church leaders. The document was a response to the many shameful attacks on Barrett’s faith. Democrats have referred to her as “extreme,” and they have used their favorite TV series, “The Handmaid’s Tale,” to intimate that the judge would prefer a society in which women would be oppressed and subservient to men.

If and when Barrett is nominated, we can expect the same type of circus that the left conducted during the Kavanaugh hearings dialed up to 11. With Kavanaugh, the Democrats had more time to smear and defame him. Republicans in the Senate are looking to have a new justice confirmed before Election Day, which means the left will have to amp up their attacks sooner, rather than later.

However, it’s worth noting that it’s not just Barrett’s religion that has got the Democrats’ proverbial panties in a bunch. They have also begun floating inane conspiracy theories about her adoption of Haitian children.

My colleague, Bonchie, wrote about this bizarre line of attack recently. “It’s just a matter of time before the Times and the Post start dropping stories ‘just asking questions’ about Barrett’s children,” he predicted. “We already know they have multiple hit pieces on her religious views in the works. They are just waiting for the announcement today to drop them.”

When Trump does go public with his intention to nominate Barrett, there can be no doubt that the corporate press and the Democrats will launch a full-on frontal assault against her. In fact, it seems likely that they already have their guns locked and loaded and are waiting for the high sign, which will be Trump’s announcement. One thing is for sure; the nation is in for yet another bitter political conflict.
