Here’s Why The Progressive Left Loves Riots In Black Communities

Here’s a question that might make you go, “Hmmmmm?”

If far-left activist groups like Antifa claim to be for the black community, why would they actively participate in the destruction of predominantly black cities? The answer might be more simple than you think.

In the wake of George Floyd’s death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, violent rioting and looting have occurred across the nation. Bad actors have traveled to major US cities to cause mayhem along with some of the residents living in these areas. While these individuals burn buildings and attack police officers, most of the residents have engaged in peaceful demonstrations in an effort to affect positive change.

Despite the fact that the corporate press has ignored the role that far-leftist organizations like Antifa have played in the chaos, it is well-documented that progressive operatives — most of whom are white — are playing an instrumental part in the pandemonium. Moreover, their allies in the establishment media are busy covering for them. High-profile figures on the left are actively supporting those who engage in violence.

Just last week, famous actors announced that they would be donating money to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which is a non-profit organization providing cash bail payments for rioters and looters in the city. People like Seth Rogan, Ben Schwartz, and Steve Carell have donated.

Model and television personality Chrissy Teigen stated that she would give $100,000 to bail out violent protesters in response to the president stating that it was “MAGA night.”. She tweeted, “In celebration of whatever the f*** maga night is, I am committed to donating $100,000 to the bail outs of protestors across the country.” She later upped the number to $200,000.

The rioting and looting have caused immense damage to the cities in which these black residents live. Antifa and other mostly-white progressive groups have come to these cities to foment violence. And when it’s all over, they will leave and return to their parents’ basements. But the minority citizens residing in these areas will be left devastated.

Already, the violence has killed several people. Last week, a 77-year-old retired St. Louis police captain was shot to death by looters who broke into a pawn shop. The murder was livestreamed on Facebook.

Italia Marie Kelly, a 22-year-old woman was killed in Davenport, Iowa after leaving a protest that she attended after getting off work. When she saw that the crowd was getting more intense, she decided to leave. Unfortunately, she was struck by a random bullet.

So far, 12 people nationwide have died from the riots. The violence has had a deleterious impact on local minority-owned businesses as well. In fact, the damage that the rioters have done will likely remain long after they have left.

Korboi Balla, a black American firefighter who used his savings to open a sports bar in Minneapolis, suffered a severe setback after rioters torched his establishment. Luckily, a GoFundMe managed to raise over $1 million to get him back on his feet. However, not all businesses have been this fortunate.

The Washington Examiner’s Brad Palumbo wrote a piece for the Foundation for Economic Education in which he discussed ten black-owned businesses that were devastated by rioting and looting. These entrepreneurs poured their blood, sweat, and tears into building their livelihood, only to have it destroyed by violent thugs pretending to care about the death of George Floyd.

In another piece, Palumbo points out that historically, rioting and looting has had a disproportionately pernicious impact on minority business owners. “A 2005 Vanderbilt University study examined the rioting and unrest that broke out in the late 1960s during the civil rights movement,” he writes. “It finds that much of it occurred in minority neighborhoods, such as the predominantly black Watts neighborhood in Los Angeles.”

He also notes that the study found that riots have brought about “a 10 percent decline in the total value of black-owned property in cities.” Predictably, these events create a dire economic decline from which it is exceedingly difficult to overcome.

So, back to the question. Why would the far-left, which claims to champion the cause of black America, support operatives destroying black communities? Why would its elite provide bail money for people who set fire to black-owned businesses? Why would the left-wing corporate media essentially cover for those who are ravaging black cities?

As conservative commentator Sonnie Johnson has rightly pointed out on many occasions, “If they want to be the party of the poor, they have to keep you poor.”

That’s it.

The answer really is that simple. The progressive elite care nothing for the statist murders of people like George Floyd aside from using it as a political weapon against their opposition. They are not concerned about the plight of black Americans living in poverty, crime, and subpar education. In fact, it is the reason why they promote policies at the local level that are designed to keep far too many black folks in dire straits. It is why they support rioting and looting in predominantly black areas. It is part and parcel of their plan for minorities in America.

I’ve said it repeatedly, but now is the time for conservatives to begin the process of reconnecting with the black community. The Republican Party has a golden opportunity here; they can begin offering an alternative to the destructive Democrats who have dominated these cities for decades. The question is: Will they seize the moment? Or will they stick to business as usual?
