President Trump Vows to Never Leave Second Amendment ‘Unprotected’

Yesterday, President Donald Trump signaled his support for Virginians marching to defend the Second Amendment by promising to prevent the gun control crow from attacking it. As tens of thousands of people showed up to demonstrate against the state government’s push to ban certain firearms, many are rightly concerned that this is the beginning of a wider effort to violate the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

But if the president’s tweet from yesterday and recent comments are any indications, the gun control crowd will be in for a vicious battle when they decide to move against the Second Amendment. Trump tweeted: “On the very day that Virginians rallied in support of gun rights President Trump tweeted that he will never leave the Second Amendment ‘unprotected.’”

Virginia’s legislature are attempting to implement licensing requirements for residents who own an AR-15 rifle. They are also seeking to create a database of these individuals as well. But that’s not all. They also seek to make it a felony to own “high capacity” magazines, suppressors, and certain after-market triggers.

On Monday, President Trump pilloried Virginia Democrats for their effort to infringe on the rights of gun owners in the state. “The Democrat Party in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia are working hard to take away your 2nd Amendment rights,” he tweeted. “This is just the beginning. Don’t let it happen, VOTE REPUBLICAN in 2020!”

In the lead up to the rally, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency, claiming that there was “credible intelligence from our law enforcement agencies that there are groups with malicious plans for the rally.”

The progressive media propaganda machine went into full spin mode, attempting to convince the public to believe that the rally was held to promote white supremacy — despite the presence of black participants. Some tried to influence people on social media by tweeting a Buzzfeed article reminding them of Reagan’s decision to implement gun control laws after the Black Panthers marched in California’s capital building while carrying firearms.

Nevertheless, it appears the progressives did not succeed in their efforts to deceive the American public; the only ones believing their narrative were the ones who wanted to believe it.

Hopefully, President Trump will keep his promise. He hasn’t quite been as friendly to the Second Amendment as some would like. He banned bump stocks after the mass shooting in Las Vegas. Last year, he also flirted with the idea of promoting red flag laws. Still, Trump has been more of protector of the right to bear arms than anyone on the other side of the aisle. Let’s hope he continues to resist the anti-gun crowd.
