KBH leaving the Senate in 2013

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison today announced that she will not be a candidate for re-election in 2012.  While this is welcomed news to many, including myself, it is important to recognize anyone who dedicates so many years of their life to public service.  Sen. Hutchison is a dedicated citizen of Texas and deserves respect for her service to our great state.

Now the race to succeed her begins.  I have heard speculation that Governor Perry may bring to a close his never-ending tenure as our state’s chief executive in order to be the next Senator.  If this were to be the case, I wish him well on his pursuit of continued public service, but will not support his campaign.  Like so many other conservatives in the Lone Star State, I will be working to elect Michael WIlliams as our next United States Senator.  Commissioner Williams has been a tireless champion of the conservative movement during his service on the Railroad Commission, and he is exactly the man we need to continue that fight in the United States Senate.  Picturing a Sen. Williams standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Sen. DeMint is enough to get any conservative on board with his campaign.

Again, I thank Sen. Hutchison for her years of service in the Senate, and bid her a fond farewell and happy retirement.
