I posted a blog called “Can we change our image?” a few months ago. (See blog below.)

I had put a picture of President Bush and the First Lady in my office at the University where I teach, and a couple of students had noticed it and gotten very upset to find out that I was a Republican, stating that Republicans “hate the environment and gays.”

I explained my position on both issues to the students and was feeling rather disappointed about the entire situation. To my great surprise, one of the students came by my office last Friday and announced that he is going to vote for McCain. He said that since our conversation, he had decided to pay attention to the issues and not just accept what the media and other professors were saying about Republicans and McCain.

I had to report this breakthrough! There just might be some hope after all. Maybe we can change minds one person at a time, with logic and patience.
