It’s been very educational and entertaining watching Chuck Johnson in action over the last couple of weeks exposing what’s happening in Mississippi. One of the things that Chuck has said that has really stuck with me in regard to media and the enemy: “First they ignore you, Then they mock you, Then they fight you, Then you win”. MY RADIO INTERVIEW WITH CHUCK C JOHNSON
First they ignore, then they mock you, then they fight you. We are at the fighting stage but we are #winning. #mssen

I’m one that believes that Chuck’s methods on twitter have been instrumental in getting us to where we are today with what’s happening in Mississippi. 2 weeks ago who would of ever thought that the Barbours would have no choice but to take ownership of these racist ads. All the dots connect to the Barbours thanks to the work Chuck Johnson and Rick Shaftan have produced on gotnews.com.

Who would of thought that every media outlet out there would have had to report the elephant in the room? You want to poke a stick at the media including the beltway conservative Media and the Main Stream media. They are itching to ridicule you and trash your research and attack the messenger. By encouraging these bullies, you make them useful idiots because while in their vitriol to take you down they inadvertently are getting the story out. Other media outlets are noticing it.
Say what you want, @ChuckCJohnson is breaking through on his #mssen story. He is fighting a one man war. And he may win this one.

They start writing on the story and before you know it you have more and more eyeballs in the press taking notice and people are drawing their own conclusions. I think of the Reverend Stevie Fielder who obviously is worried about being investigated and charged with his involvement in the vote buying scam. The media jumped on him to try to discredit this source and in the end it only drew attention to other players orchestrating this vote buying scheme within the Cochran campaign.
If you want to learn how to go above the heads of the media you must come up with a strategy to beat the media. I think what Chuck is doing is a perfect example of how to accomplish just that. Now that all the dots are connecting the Barbours to these race bating ads, bigger media outlets are not even acknowledging that gotnews.com is responsible for getting this out there.
In a funny way this actually works to Chuck’s advantage. In the media’s arrogance to “own” the story they have given up on using Chuck as a punching bag. You will also notice the blogosphere and other independent journalists and investigators are jumping on board too making this story bigger and bigger. Chuck is creating a 3 headed dragon.
Pardon the crude analogy, but chop off his head and you have 2 other heads to deal with while Chuck’s head grows back. Rick Shaftan made a very salient point at the GotNews press conference in DC. He said and I’m paraphrasing here: We really don’t need to do anything, this story is going to speak for itself.
I also believe there are several Alinsky rules being played out here that we can glean from:
ALINKSY RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”
They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different than any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)
You are seeing this played out in Mississippi like never before. Let’s look at social media for example. The Group “Friends of Chris McDaniel” on Facebook has well over 4,000 members and is adding 100s and 100s each day. I posted something in that group and I complained to the administrator because I thought my post got deleted. What I actually found out is that there are soooo many people posting in that group that you can barely keep up with all the posts. I ended up scrolling down a couple of pages and found my post.
It’s that busy. If you have 1,000 people in your, “Friends of a candidate page” especially for a challenger you are doing pretty good. 4,000 and growing, especially after losing the runoff is just nuts. The Mississippi residents in this group are just not casual observers either. They are making phone calls to people in the Mississippi GOP, they are crashing news conferences they are helping Chuck Johnson get court transcripts, reports and information.
They are jazzed! They are excited! Let’s be honest folks. If you are volunteering for a campaign like I am right now, the monotony of making phone calls, door knocking and putting up signs can get exhausting and at times boring. These guys aren’t licking their wounds from the runoff, they got their war paint on and are ready to charge the English at The Battle of Stirling Bridge chanting “Alba gu bràth”
ALINSKY RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)
You are seeing this played out quite well with Chuck’s reporting and it’s making the media and the Establishment play “Whack-A-Mole” and they can’t keep up with it either. Stevie Fielder story breaks, establishment and the media try to discredit it. Two seconds later the story of Amanda Shook pops up and the unaccounted for $53,000 dollars. The Barbours try to dismiss it as some clerical error. Evidence shows that there’s a new race baiting ad that just surfaced from another pastor with connections to the NRSC.
The NRSC comes up with a flimsy excuse. There’s another story coming out nobody knows about except Chuck Johnson coming out Monday on gotnews.com. On top of that, the base of the party just won’t shut up. Teaparty Patriots is repeating it. Senate Conservatives Fund is naming names. Liberals on twitter are complaining that conservatives are hijacking the #mssen hashtag and tweeting every single friekin member of congress 1 tweet at a time that silence is complicity and to #RememberMississippi. Stu Stevens is blocking people left and right on twitter including Chuck Johnson and pretends everything is fine kinda like the day before election day 2012. We are winning folks!
Let’s keep the momentum going, don’t let up either. If we are going to win we must keep our boot on their necks and never let up. If they get away with this in Mississippi they will get away with it everywhere.
