Enough is being said about the Supreme Court cases being heard this week.

Erick’s piece this morning along with Dana Loesch’s diary cover the essentials of the matter from a conservative point of view.

I am preparing myself for the worst as I no longer trust nor regard our Supreme Court with esteem. Ever since the more than bizarre ruling on Obamacare — and seeing Justice Roberts’ propensity to twist himself into a pretzel for reasons only he knows when making his rulings — I have no reason to trust that these justices will use sound judgment in ruling on same-sex marriage issues.

Watching the rapid decline of America has been and continues to be very troubling and vexing to those of us who love God. For most Christians in America, we are not used to having to look upon civil authorities with suspicion, much less ponder how to go about defying or disobeying them. But, we have reached the point where it is no longer a theory to consider, but a reality to come to terms with.

As usual, when going through various trials, there is no better counsel to turn to than the Word of God. So, I’ll end this discussion with one of my favorite psalms: (I am using the King James version because I love the poetic beauty of the language.)

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalm 1:1-6

The Lord promises believers that all things work together for good to those who love Him. One of the good things I see coming out of all of this is that the open hostility toward us is like a purifying agent for a church that cannot afford to be luke-warm. And for that, we can be grateful.
