Are we groaning or what?
I don’t want to go on a rant about the awfulness of Obama. But I can’t help but think of the scripture in Proverbs that gives us insight into the impact that rulers have upon their people. In its entirety it states: ” When the righteous rule, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” Proverbs 29:2
There are plenty of examples in scripture of the Lord allowing wicked rulers to preside over Israel as a direct result of the people’s wickedness — or, in other words — when every man did what was right in his own eyes as opposed to listening to God and obeying His commandments for righteous living. What else might explain how a nation such as ours could purposely elect such an incompetent, ungodly man who seems to openly mock everything we hold dear day in and day out? How could we allow this to happen?
Maybe this is our last wake-up call — a warning and reminder that as much as God loves America, he is no respecter of persons or nations and will not continue to bless us if we don’t make sincere changes in direction which would include turning back to Him. Our pride and boastfulness has caused us to forget where our blessings come from and what happens to nations who turn against God and mock his commandments. God is not mocked — whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.
Along with my prayers, I am still trying to do my part by studying how we could have strayed so far from our roots — Constitutionally and spiritually — as I believe that retrieving these truths is the key to our recovery. I am appalled at the ignorance of so many who are completely oblivious to the role the Bible played in our founding. And it is equally disconcerting to see so many resist looking to scripture for answers to our problems — as if the scriptures are no longer relevant to our survival and success. This, my friends, is a symptom of our pride.
I won’t say more for now as I want to end on a positive note and wish everyone a nice weekend. Stay tuned for more diaries as I become more adept at explaining how America’s greatness was birthed by men and women who deferred to Providence and humbly acknowledged our Creator as the ultimate lawgiver and life-sustainer when forming our nation’s governments. A better understanding of how they looked to God for answers is quite refreshing. After all, He really is a good God.
