Do the Wikileaks cables take out a Primary Challenger for Obama?

It’s no secret to anyone at Redstate that Obama’s Approval rating is in the tank. Many pundits have been theorizing that there may be a primary challenge for him in the 2012 elections… And who better to challenge him than Hillary Clinton?

Recently, the Wikileaks story has been in the news, and Jack Shafer at Slate has a story that analyzes a part of the impact I had not thought about. How does it reflect on Hillary as Secretary of State? His final paragraph concludes:

There is no way that the new WikiLeaks leaks don’t leave Hillary Clinton holding the smoking gun. The time for her departure may come next week or next month, but sooner or later, the weakened and humiliated secretary of state will have to pay.

Now, I’m no tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist here, but is it inconceivable that some of that information was “Accidentally on purpose” allowed to get out, just for the purposes of damaging Obama’s potential challenger for the Democrat nomination in 2012? Does it hurt our national security, and diplomatic efforts? Sure, but that might just be collateral damage for a political attack.
